yes the siberias are open. open cans are open on the backside meaning that air can come in and out of the headphones.... thus they give a more airy, or natural sound. They will also 'leak' sound in and out so they aren't good for noisy situations.

Closed cans have a solid back and offer some isolation. They have a limited cabinate size so you don't get the natural sound, and they can be bassy at time (depending on the can)

I just tried some css with my k81dj's and they were alright, nothing like my hd595's but not too bad either.
They made things sound close, so it was easy to hear footsteps, but a little harder to distinguish the distance away they were. It was very easy to hear people on the other side of walls so you have that advantage.

Bought a pair of these sleeves also, since the foam one kinda suck. They hurt my ears when I intially insert them.

Well I went ahead with some open cans this time around. I happend to have scored some HD555's for 80 bones shipped from a guy on Head-Fi.

And the reason why I didnt want some open cans Solo was when I game I crank my comp up and by that is I turn the rheobus all the way up so it can get kinda loud. But movies should be fine as I practically turn all fans off.

you'll be alright cranking the sound up they don't leak too much sound... but then again I'm never the one standing next to me...

you'll like the hd555's but if they're anything like my 595's you may find that they lack a bit of bass when unamped. If you want a cheap amp let me know and I can build you a cmoy

Well I got my a/130's yesterday, sadly though a piece seems to be rattling in the right headphone. You can hear it when you shake the can or when the bass kicks in. So hopefully the Koss ebay store takes these back, so far no response from them . But the HD555's should be here any day now .

the rattling is a common problem with the A130's it can be fixed though
check out this tread:

I think it's as simple as taking them apart and putting some blue tac on the inside... the sound should get better as well. You may have to glue the driver in place though... I haven't looked at one myself, but yeah... there's pics in the thread towards the end. after the a250's ran out people started getting and modding the a130's

That depends on the amp, quality, size... you know. I could put to gether a pretty decent Cmoy amp in a mint tin for about $50. A portable PIMTA would be about $100, a maxed out desktop PIMETA like I have would be about $180. the HPDAC that I'm looking into possibly building (and I posted a thread about just now) is an integrated DAC and amp so you don't need a good sound card and that would cost somewhere around $180-200

glad you like them. Let me know if you want a mint tin amp sooner rather then later bc I was planning on placing an order w/ Mouser on Monday to get some things I need. I don't have the parts on hand to make an amp so it'd be cheaper to add stuff to what I'm already ordering
