Don't ever do anything that will gain the Fed's interest in garnering your PC for building a case against you. Once your fingerprints are directly tied to your PC you're kaput.

Oh, this is cool. Mechanical all the way.

You could reverse the circuit that tells the drive to retract upon bootup to check for a boot record at post, this way instead of retracting, it would eject?

I'd try to remove the components for actually reading the data off the disc then using windows logon scripts to eject/inject the CD tray.

I've seen systems at universities where when you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL it shows a message telling you the format of the assigned username/password (name and university ID) and then goes to the screen to enter your login info. So I'm sure with the right scripts you can software eject/inject the ODD as well.
