First of all, welcome to OCN!

Well done!
The first thing that i noticed was the cleanness of your wiring. You obviously spent a good amount of time there, many folks overlook that. Props.
Im pleased to give you your 1st rep for a Rig you should be proud of.

Now, of course, i have to ask: When are you going to overclock smile.gif That H100 is begging for it!

Welcome to OCN mate:thumb:

Awesome build as a first timer. Props. Good choice of parts and very neat assembly/cable management. +rep for being organized, which is usually overlooked. As Hatchet mentioned, that H100 is just begging for you to push the clocks on that 965!

If I may ask, why did it take you nearly a year? Once I decided on my build, the time between ordering the parts and building the computer was probably 5 days.

Not everybody has the cash to go in for the complete build at one go. For some of us it takes constant saving and upgrading one part at a time.

First of all i wanna thank you guys for the reps. Totally appreciate it. smile.gif

About the OC for the 965, im still in the process of learning on how to OC it using the BIOS cause so far i have been only doing it with the use of AMD's Overdrive and haven't reached a stable clock as of now. I tried to step up the OC to 4.2Ghz but the system became unstable so i had to set it back. smile.gif

Any suggestions or steps on how to OC is very much appreciated. smile.gif

About the time that took me to upgrade my rig, yes saving up for it is somehow was an issue and aside from that i was expecting the price or release of each item depending on per quarter of the year. Actually i was supposed to get the 7k series for the video card but AMD decided to move the release date a little bit further so i had to settle in for the 5850. For now im still waiting for the SSD prices to lower down for i am planning to get the 120GB or higher one for my system. biggrin.gif

To get it running stable at 4Ghz+, you'll need to use both the FSB and multi and not JUST the multi, otherwise you may hit a wall sooner than you think. Lower the multi to 17x and raise the FSB to 272, set the vcore anywhere between 1.47-1.55v (auto either pushes too much or too little volts). Set the RAM to manual and lower the frequency to 667Mhz and increase DRAM voltage to 1.65v. Make sure that the HT link is as close to stock as possible (+/-100Mhz). Lastly, increase the CPU/NB to about 2500-2800Mhz ans set the NB voltage accordingly to about 1.3-1.35v. Hope this helps thumb.gif

The SSD would be a good investment. The time for booting into windows will reduce by half and your applications will load in a heartbeat biggrin.gif

+1 to getting an SSD. It will work wonders.

I agree with the overclocking instructions, but would like to add one thing: Temps! Keep a very close eye on them. 62C is the MAX that AMD says is safe for your chip. As long as your H100 is seated properly, functioning properly, you should have absolutely no issue. But better safe than sorry smile.gif

Well so far with my current setting my temp reaches an idle of 33* with the air-conditioning on and reached 43*-45* on full load using prime95 for 30mins. On a normal day it usually reaches around 37*-39* and 44*-47*. Im still thinking of using an aftermarket Thermal Compound to see if there could still be some changes into it. Any recommendations? biggrin.gif
