Assassins Creed II freezing after last man standing mission

I just ran away from the guards after they killed Ezio's family, and the screen went white.. probably for the next chapter. I can hear some sounds like birds chirping but the screen just stays white. I tried leaving it for 10 mins but still no luck :/

I am running a Core i3 2100
GPU: HD 5670 1GB

The game runs smooth with all settings on high.

I restarted the game but same thing and this time the small square on the right freezes when loading. I tried searching Google and this forum but couldn't find anything relative.
Would really appreciate any help. Thx.

This happens when the game can't communicate with Ubisoft's DRM servers.

So how do I fix it? My internet connection is on and working. I tried looking for an update but theres only one and I have it.

If you can tell me how to limit the core to only 1 I think that might help. Worked with fallout 3 and left 4 dead.

Thx, it was exactly that. A virus on my pc was preventing some programs from accessing the internet. After virus was removed everything is ok smile.gif though the game still crashed to desktop time to time.

Thx again.
