Im confused by this? I could see the artifacts on my screen

Edit - So it wasn't a bottleneck from the CPU then?

Ok nvm... I basically didn't see it was right in front of me ... Well I am going to follow the advice given to me by Russian Hak and redo my test system and just see how it all flys and hope that it isn't the card that is bad but you never know.

Tested it tonight and found the card was artifcating like crazy just sitting at the desktop and not doing anything... I have pictures but have to upload them either tonight or tomorrow and post them for you all to see what it looks like.

Stay tune for a update of pictures.

Ok so I finally got the pictures uploaded this morning and are going to post them... (don't know how to directly post them so they show up so they will be links to click)

Here are the 5 pictures i took last night... (Note: This is just sitting at the desktop doing nothing after a fresh reinstall of windows and drivers) + we used a Corsair HX1200 to make sure we had enough power for the whole system.

From this it looks like to me personally the card is either fried or is bad. This card has been sitting in a box the whole time since I got it and I can't see that causing the card to do this.

Edit - Everything is stock clocks nothing is overclocked!

Try the simple things thinking.gif

  • Turn off UAC. Control Panel > User Accounts > change User Account Control Settings > move the slider to bottom > restart PC.

  • Disable "harware acceleration" in FlashPlayer/Youtube/Chrome/FireFox or globally disable it.

I was thinking about it and decided that i needed to expand a little bit more on the test system I used... the specs as I stated in the OP are close to equal to my signature system matching motherboard and all that the only 4 things that are different are:

- CPU (Phenom II 965 BE)

- PSU (Corsair HX1200)

- RAM (Mushkin Red Line DDR3 1333 8 GB)

- Video card (6990)

I do believe crossfire is enabled but since it did what I showed you in the pictures up above I can't be 100% sure but I am saying that when we ran Furmark both GPUs showed up as being tested. I wasn't able to get into a game to do more testing to find out cause it started to artifact like crazy.

Had a buddy who allowed to me throw this into one more build to test out the card and did a complete reinstall. The card is running fine without any issues and running the latest and up to date drivers (11.12 now) So looks like the card will be ok after all and it was just a weird issue with drivers I think on the other build i threw it into. thumb.gif
