[Yahoo Games]Modern Warfare 3′ is the fastest to $1 billion - Page 6

Activision clearly put FAR more money into advertising than they did the actual game. And yes it's obvious that the target audience for MW3 is kids/teens. MOST people I've heard or seen talk about wanting and liking MW3 are usually young teenagers and little kids. Most of the adults I talk to say they far prefer BF3.

I'm so glad this thread got hijacked by movie-talk, because who really wants to re-hash the dead horse that is "OMG CoD iz fOr LamERZZZ11oneoneon11xesxcfart_BFTHREEEEE33333oneoneon"

I was all pumped up to agree with the dude who said Drive was crap, then I read his list of "good" movies.... Transformers? Really, dude? Captain America?? Ughh... I get that most people have pedestrian taste in film, but I literally do not want to live on the same planet as someone who liked Transformers 3. No offense.

The COD franchise is simply more well known to the general public. Doesn't matter what age. I know plenty of grown men who play COD, yet hardly anyone who plays BF3.

So I decided to bite the bullet and get this, and I regret giving them my money. When I downloaded the game and opened it up, I was welcomed to a nice continuation of the single player of the previous MW titles, this is where the good part ends. I move on to the multiplayer, and I realize I am playing $60 DLC for MW2 (which in itself was pretty much DLC for MW1... without dedicated servers). I am so sorry I spent money on this title and further helped Activision prove that they can sell rehashed gameplay for $60. I've learned my lesson though, I'll be sure to vote with my wallet the next time a not so new iteration of cod, or any other game franchise for that matter, comes out without adding enough content to justify full price. This game didn't deserve this amount of success at all, but I'm still glad they can thrive, hopefully they'll make a game that brings me and many others who have moved on back for more action.

Based on sales I would guess that a lot of people disagree with you. I know that no one on OCN will see it this way, but grats to them for apparently making a game that many people wanted them to make.
