$50 to buy new keyboard.. suggestions?

It seems the keyboard is always the last component I consider replacing when it comes to my computer. I guess its because they are so reliable. In any case, I think its time to replace this keyboard I've been using for over 10 years now. It works fine with no problems at all but earlier this year I won a sweet gaming computer in a contest and what to do it justice by also upgrading the components plugged into it.

So I have a $50 Best Buy gift card. So far I have my eyes on the Razer Arctosa. Its $49.99 with free shipping there. I like the keyboard, but I want to be sure there isn't a better deal as far as getting the most for my money. I'm not trying to sound cheap, I just want to be sure I'm getting the best $50 keyboard out there. Should I just go with the Arctosa? I wouldn't mind adding $5-10 if it means getting a keyboard that offers a lot more.

it really a preference thing, I have a Lycosa which is a similar design and I absolutely hate the slim keys, to me they just dont feel very responsive. But I assume since you have to get it from bestbuy you're choices are a bit limited so get whatever you see that will make you happy thumb.gif

The Lycosa looks nice. Its basically just a more advanced Arctosa. I'm not sure if I want to put in an extra $30 to have it though. I also have my eyes on the Logitech G110. Its $67 on Best Buy and looks great for gaming. I've never used a keyboard with "extras" like the G110 has though.

I would definitely not recommend the Lycosa. I was in a similar situation as you, and bought the lycosa a couple years back with gift cards from best buy. Needless to say i went back to my saitek eclipse less than a year after purchasing the Lycosa. It is a fingerprint magnet, and the keys are flat and stick. Not to mention sometimes i had to reboot if a single key wasn't working. Also, i always had problems with the built in usb on it.

Yea. I'm not reading very many good reviews about the Lycosa. So far it seems the Razer Arctosa is my best buy. I'm still thinking if I should put in the extra $17 and get the Logitech G110. It has a lot of extra keys and lighting which I suppose is always good for something not that expensive.

If they sell the Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard you should take a look at it, one of the better rubber domes on the market imo and I think it's right around your price range.

They have the X6 for $63. Is there much a difference?

I'd suggest you go into a Frys or the Best Buy first to try out the keyboards first to get an idea of how they feel and then to make your decision. +1 for the sidewinder X4 for a rubber dome, that would be my recommendation.

If you weren't restricted to your gift card, there are a few nice mechanicals that you can score for $50 if you're interested in them, such as the Ducky 1087 XM or an used IBM Model M.
