For the cpu block I would strongly consider the xspc raystorm - it's a great performing block and very affordable.

I'm unaware how hot the 6950 will get. ,so you'll have to do some reserach about them. Mostly any decent/high performance gpu runs hot and especially if you oc the cards. typical gpu waterblock will be 90-130$ each.

the 6950s dont run too hot, but they would definately benefit from WCing if you plan to OC

Well, eventually I would like to WC the GPU, I just dont know if I want to do it now. Ive tried to get an idea of how loud they are when under significant load and in youtube videos they sound extremely loud...but then everything seems to sound extremely loud in youtube videos. Its mostly the cost that has me contemplating what I want to do. I guess if Im already running a loop, running a second loop for the GPU, or another section of the same loop isnt that big of a deal.

Although, getting the block on those GPUs seems like a tedious process.

no.... at 100% fan speed, they are that loud... if i recal the numbers correctly 480s use to get up to the 50dBa range at 100%

Ok, I've added 2 120gb Corsair Force GT Sata 3 ssd's as the primary OS and primary data storage drives. now I need to find a few 2tb or 3tb drives and have them raid0 which is ungodly expensive right now frown.gif

As far as water cooling, Im going to go with the xspc raystorm cpu block and if i go gpu, probably the same thing.

Any suggestion on connector hardware? I will gladly pay a few more dollars for some more piece of mind that I wont have a leak. I was thinking about the screw on connectors instead of the barbs, but not sure if thats just a looks thing or not.

kind of off topic but what's a 20 hour phone call like? Does it totally suck? Also how about some of those quick disconnect fittings for the res's? If you are willing to use a valve then you could just use those as its no more work.

Actually, I've grown to enjoy the 20hr calls. I have one tonight starting at 1 am. Its actually two separate calls going at the same time. If all goes well, its fairly quiet and I can put everyone one mute the majority of the time. It gives me a chance to catch up on all my work that i cant do when people are bugging me and its an excuse to stay up and watch some good old movies...the kind you love, but have seen so many times, you dont actually have to pay attention too. Those keep me awake, since i usually dont get to sleep for 24 - 40 hours. If things do go wrong, then its an adrenaline rush, but the hours of conversations and paperwork afterwards absolutely suck.

What purpose would the quick disconnects have? Just quicker disassembly? during cleaning, inspection, etc?

well the quick disconnects allow you to remove the tubing from a block or in this case a res while there is still water in it.... That being said if you had 4 female connectors and 2 males on the tubing you could switch out the res anytime you want. Just a thought.

I think he was saying qdcs to be able to unhook one read and hook up another... And I would recomend using bitspower or koolance compression fittings... Another trick is to get tube that is slightly too small so that it realy holds on to the barb in the fittings... As for the SSD, I would look at the crucial and such because the sand force controller has a bunch of problems... Other then that, I think it sounds like a good plan smile.gif
