KBC Poker aluminum case

Some product just warrants its own review and that's how I feel with the aluminum Poker case I just received from imsto via FedEx today. First of all, the packing! I couldn't believe how many layers of wrapping, bubble wraps, etc are involved here. It's probably one of the best packing I've ever seen so far in terms of stuff I receive from overseas over the years. Every little item either has its own wrapping or in a plastic bag.

Anyway, the case really does add some hefty weight to the tiny Poker so once you put the case on, you can't really carry it around... I mean you could but it's gonna be heavier.

For those of you who may be interested in this, you'd have to contact imsto over at GH and also judging from his posts, this might be a limited run but you never know.

On with the pictures (you can click on them to enlarge) and sorry it's a bit overcast today with some rain:

Bottom of the case:

Included rubber feet with different height:

I believe this is a freebie which imsto threw in there for us early adopters (first ever dye-sub GeekHack keycap):

Lining that goes inside the case:

Installation was pretty easy. All you have to do is remove 5 screws and the thing pops up:

Put the lining on follow by the PCB mounted board:

With the new casing, it makes the Poker feel more substantial and heavier. Now it feels more solid and not just another small keyboard with plastic casing (ie. it doesn't feel cheap anymore lol). The quality on the casing is top notch as you can see from the pictures. I'll try to take some better pictures later and also I'm waiting for a second one from imsto (in blue this time). I'll post some pics of it here.

Edit: blue case just arrived yesterday and here are some pictures of it:

Oh wow, nice. More durable than a Model M and in a nice tiny package.

Finally might need to get a tenkeyless....

Does that case have the same external dimensions as the original plastic case? I am currently finishing up a wrist rest for an owner of a KBC Poker, and it might be a nice addition along with the wood rest.

The aluminum case is definitely thicker and heavier than the original Poker case.

I made that rest to fit the stock Poker. If the aluminum case is wider overall, it won't fit... Too bad.
