Quieter, less extravagant case needed

A while ago, I bought the Antec DF-85. I bought if for a couple reasons. One, it was roughly 75% off. Two, it looked cool. However, I'm paying for that right now. The case is a bit noisy when it comes to wanting to watch movies, where the fans go into super saiyan mode and are obnoxious. Also, the LED lights are incredibly distracting when watching in dim lighting. I have had the thought to put just a curtain in front of it, but that then blocks all the controls from reaching the receivers.

Are there any cases which are just plain, don't have LED or at least not an absurd amount of LEDs? I have thought of buying the Cosmos S, I heard it was fairly quiet.

I wouldn't get the Cosmos S as the HDD bay is a pain to install and those clip-on drive holders are a pain to work with. One of my friend's has that case and the first thing I suggested him to do was buy a new one. He had his HDD bay taped in cause he couldn't figure out how to get it back on. Also the fan on the side panel, one of the blades broke on it causing some shrapnel to come shooting out of it.

Why don't you replace the fans with more quieter, non-LED ones? That'll be way cheaper than buying a new case altogether. That actually looks like a pretty descent case.

I'm pretty biased, but get an NZXT Phantom when you can on special.

The included fan controller can change fan speed/noise from near silent to rockin' out, and the airflow/temps are nice and low regardless. It's a joy to build in (truly, there is SO much room inside - way more than the DF-85. and it's not that *huge* for a full-tower), customizable (fan options with spare fan-controller connections, HDD bays, etc), stylish (nay, it's gorgeous) and the plastic on the case isn't nearly as bad as one expects of plastic - it's solid, durable and pretty nice. Feature-wise, as it comes stock, this case can't be beat IMHO. Plus, the LED on the top 200mm fan can be switched on and off via a button on the back of the case.

But given you already have that case then perhaps your best bet is a fan-controller and some new, non-led fans. I'm no expert in this department, so I'll leave it to the others to suggest specific models for you.

Still, if you were considering the Cosmos case, then you have more than enough money for a Phantom, and you will be overjoyed with it I'm sure.

I have thought about just replacing the fans, but on the case where the driver bays are, there are latches that in fron of them, for probably an aesthetic look. But these latches also get in the way of my multimedia receiver/remote and is just problematic aiming the remote or just getting up and opening it. I could remove it, but it would look awkward. and out of place. My friend would like to buy it, so it does solve the "I'd rather not buy a new case" problem
