first build--first boot-- first fail-- please advise. - Page 2

ask your friends if they have an unused AM3 cpu that you could borrow to flash your bios.

in the meantime, touch the cpu block if it gets hot after a few minutes of being turned on to make sure the cpu is working.
I dont know about watercooled setup but I touch the cpu heatsink, if its hot, the cpu is fine.

Also try turning on without ram. Dead ram will prevent bios from posting and also prevent display on monitor.

Ive done about 20 builds and two of them had dead ram from the box.

Nice build, Is it to late to return your MOBO, The Crosshair V has gotten some lousy reviews, that the ASUS Sabertooth has not. They both have the same chipset so you shoud get the same performance. If not then ya the bios flash. You should also yell at the computer store for not telling you about the bios flash becuase it's written everywhere that this MOBO needs one before you can use a 8150 with it. Also why is Asus telling you that you have to sauder a bios chip?

I gave all the retailers a stern rebuke for the whole deal. I also zinged amd and asus-- especially asus. I can make them take it back it I want to. I did just "rent" and old processor for The Ebay but it seems like a bad omen. I may switch to the sabertooth i'm going to eyeball it again now. I'm trying to get something out of asus customer service like maybe a discount or comp upgrade to thunder bolt.....im not sure that i want any asus products in the machine now.

Thanks about the build itself.
I know the 8150 is a hit or miss proposition but I decided to roll the dice on it. I am confidant that as the software size optimizes mukti core management the 8150 will be top tier.
