Hello, Wanting to get some numbers from the community on your experienced temperatures for the Phenom II X4 840.

Specs:
Processor: Phenom II x4 840, Stock clocks, Can not modify voltages in bios >_>....
Cooler: Cooler Master TX3
TIM: Arctic Silver 5 (Aka MX-5, Aka Mazda Miata. Yes, that's a car, inbetween the CPU and HSF)

I am currently seeing very poor temperatures compaired to my i5-2500k and i7-2600k and other builds. First Socket AM3 build though, so I want to know what you guys typically see.

Ambient, Estimated: 22c
Bios temp: 31-34c (reasonable)
Windows 7, Idle: 40-42c
Gaming (GTX460): 55-60c
Prime 95: Took under 30 seconds to reach 60c before cutting off.

Have re-applied TIM way too many times. This cooler is very poorly designed with a terrible bottom.
The gaps between the heat pipes and base are literally open enough to stop entire spread of thermal paste, so you have to apply paste to the bottom of the cooler to fill the grooves, then mount -____-.....

Only purchased CM Hyper TX3 to clear the side fan in the case.

Note: Case should have good enough airflow, Everything is properly setup for good airflow. But damn, this chip idles very hot compared to my Intel chip's under a Hyper 212!

Bay Area!!

I hate using those CM heatsinks because of how the base plate is manufactured. I don't know how they thought leaving gaps between the heat pipes and block would not cause any issues. I had a CM 212+ for a total of three days before i destroyed it because the base was not flush at all I had to use a perfect level to find one corner was thinner causing it to not not make direct contact with the cpu. I uderstand now how spending an extra $30 can make all the difference in quality. I would try an lap the CM heatsink the beast you can.

I almost find no point in lapping the TX3 due to how incredibly bad the gapping was. (May try for the heck of it..) The 840 did not seem flat and may benefit though.
To believe the aftermarket cooler came with those intel OEM push-pins to hold the heatsink on... -____-.. weak!

Something must be wrong with the cooler

I have TX3 cooling a X4 830 @ 3.4
Should be idling at 30's and 40's on load. If the heatsink is not that warm you should be good

Lol, I even put the HSF fan on Sys_Fan2 so it's running at 100% 24/7.
I would think, if there was low temperatures at the heatsink then something IS wrong. I'll have to look into this further. your 830 is a different design than the 840 though.

Starting to think that... In the future i'll suggest modding the case just to fit the Hyper 212+... This TX3 is little better than the stock heatsink lol!!
