Buffalo DD-WRT router issues with large network file transfers

Thread Starter
I have been having issues transferring large files over the network(such as transferring new music from desktop to laptop directly). It worked smoothly before on my Belkin N+ router, but everytime I try to do a large transfer, my router seems to crash, connection goes completely out and sometimes requires me to pull the plug and let it reboot. I have found this and have a feeling it has to do with it. I have increased the maximum ports to 32768..mine says default 32768. Altho does this even need to be changed cause im having issues within the network?
Router is WZR-HP-G300NH2 and Firmware: DD-WRT v24SP2-MULTI (03/21/11) std

File transfers within the same LAN utilize the switch portion of the router, and are not affected by policies implemented.
