Thus next generation nvidia single gpu flagship is gtx780.
Thus its worth to wait for gtx780.

Eh?
So the 600 series is actually going to be the 700 series?
Sounds dumb, like NVIDIA skipping the 300 series. Marketing only I guess so it's only a technicality of naming, not of actual hardware. In this case the 800 series is next for me.

I'm interested to see what Nvidia comes out with soon, but since they don't seem to wnt to give any info they won't get my money. I think SLI 580's will be more than enough power for my needs. My biggest issue is when I bought my first 275 it was at the point of going out, and not but 4 months later the 4xx series came out. My SLI 275s have carried me pretty far though, as I'm guessing SLI 580's will. Here's to hoping wednesday goes as planned.

Since your 275's are still doing so well, I would hold off on any purchases until after AMD unveils their Tahiti based cards. As was mentioned above, the paper launch is set to take place on December 22nd, with a full hard launch on January 9th, which is not far at all from now. If the performance is as good as all the rumors have proclaimed, many enthusiasts (perhaps myself included) will be dumping their 570's and 580's very soon in favor of adopting the new AMD hardware.

New high-end Nvidia hardware are not set to launch until well into the summer, if not later, next year. This means that AMD should be on top for quite some time, similar to when the AMD 5000 series was on top before the GTX 400 series came out (very late in the game) to somewhat level the playing ground. This is not to mention that there have already been rumors of Nvidia slashing prices of the GTX 580 to around the $380 price mark (brand new) in order to soften the blow from the AMD launch. Looking at the history of how the two giants compete against each other, it's safe to say that there should be similar price slashes across the board for the rest of both camps' lineups as well.

Your best bet, at this point, is to just wait another week or two and see how the landscape will change. Chances are, it will change pretty drastically, so you should be able to find good deals very soon for both new and used hardware. thumb.gif

The 300 series was relegated to the mobile chipset market; the 600 series will also be receiving the same treatment. Therefore, Nvidia will skip right into the 700 series since they technically do have a 600 series. wink.gif

It's weird that everyone is talking about getting a 600 series card for their desktop then! smile.gif
It seems my next cards will then be the 800 series, hehe.
