Any good MMOs? - Page 3

Has anyone heard of Ragnarok?

Its interesting in that there are many servers that each customize the game. Typically servers differ in content like combat items and enemies to fight, but some servers have entirely new areas and quests that others do not. The most important difference is probably server rates though, rates are the experience multiplier and the rarity of item drops.

You get the leveling up and training aspects of an MMO and its free to play. There are also PVP games, but generally you need a maxed out character and some serious equipment to be competitive. Even though the game is free, you can "donate" and get special items to help you train exponentially faster and max your characters. That's generally what people do if they want to go for PVP.

I don't have a ton of experience with the game but I liked it when I played it. I also liked the art style, its very different from most MMOs.

RebirthRO is one of the more popular ones, and its the one I played on. They have three servers total.

What failed with Star Trek Online anyway? I think there are more Star Trek fans around then there are Star Wars fans and there was never the hype for Star Trek Online that the new Star Wars MMO has.

Well, maybe Star Wars is more popular...I honestly don't know. I consider my self a fairly hard core scifi geek, but I don't really care for either. Regardless, I'd think that there is enough of a fan base for Star Trek to keep the game going strong even if it was a bad game...unless it really is THAT bad.

Vindictus = F2P Hack N Slash, VERY FUN, and Easy to get into, Looks good too

Eden Eternal = F2P Cartoony cut characters, MANY MANY CLASSES And you can switch and independantly lvl the classes at any time.
In a dungeon and your Healer Rage Quitted?? Thats Ok Because your DPS Class there, also has a Cleric! ont he same character!
I personally really enjoy this game, mostly becaus eyou never have much down time, you can change to so many types of classes.

Warhammer Online = The game of Player vs Player and real Story THE BEST PVP! - this will be like WoW, because WoW Ripped off the warhammer world.
and WoW also ripped off Dark Age of Camelot, which was a Mythic MMO of PvPvP Awesomeness But the Characters are
not as Linear, many are very utility based, and not pure Classes, meaning my Mage has great CC and AOE of the Gods

Star Wars TOR = I know you said no to this - But the Story is great, Play Sith, Be Evil, and get rewarded for it. I dont know what end game PVP will be like
but I was satisfied with the betas Hutt Ball and such. Great Game, I will Rob people ont he street for the Money to play.

Eden Eternal sounds kind of fun...I think I will check that one out.

...and WoW cloned Everquest...I attribute everything that is crappy and horrible about MMOs today to Everquest. I was an Ultima Online player. I had the full freedom to build my character as I wanted. Set my stats and skills as I wanted. Wear whatever gear I wanted (some things required the strength to wear them). NO CLASSES...no hand holding...just awesomeness. Everquest came out and removed the necessity for a player to think about building their character and it went down hill after that. Asheron's Call was the last game that let you build a character, but it released the same year as Everquest (and playing anything but a mage was like watching paint dry...Auto attack was the only attack there was if not casting spells). Anarchy Online came a few years later and was hybrid...you had classes, but you could raise what ever skill you wanted, but it was a moot point since if you didn't raise your class skills you were gimping your character. After that...it has been Everquest over and over and over.

Though if I was to recommend an EQ clone I'd have to say EQ2...I don't know why, but I really like the game. I think it is because of the group mechanics. Character classes just fit together so well. In all the other MMOs I've tried with classes you don't really group with people...you sort of solo together. Plus, In EQ 2 assisting the tank is simple...select them and do something harmful it lands on the tank's target...do something nice and it lands on the tank. I don't have dig though the massive amounts of pixels to see who targeting what or what direction I am facing. I just worry about playing my character. there is a /assist command as well that will still need to be used in certain circumstances, but for most tanks and most situations...just select the tank and go. That was my main beef with WoW...I don't think I was ever in a group where people would be attacking the tank's target and pulling aggro. Most healers will just stand around healing since they select the players to heal...though I quickly learned of mouse over macros and then healing is great and I can do some dps, but it seemed that most people did not utilize the mouse over macros.

Star Wars: ToR does look interesting...but the voice overs make the game such a time sink. I think most of my time playing in the beta was spent listening to NPCs talk. Grinding would have been more fun than that. I hope they add a text only option. I can read far faster than any one can talk...well, and talk effectively anyway

I think Guild Wars 2 might be really good. It seems like a skillbased pvp game that they are trying really hard to make it balanced and fair. Like when you play arena you all have max gear. I don't know if its good but I am definately going to wait for some reveiws and see if its worth playing.

WoW Arena is also pretty good for pvp but it has many many major flaws in it but its still worth playing if you avoid all the pve content.

Besides that I think uh... ugh I cant remember it. Oh yeh EvE but you already played. EvE is a really cool concept and cool game but the lack of skill based pvp is a huge problem and is why I quit. If there was an EvE type of Arena I would play it for sure but in EvE you are force to pve, pvp is always imba or your part doesnt really matter, and the progression is impossible to keep up with. It shouldn't take a few months before you can be on par with someone else shipwise and the time to have funds to pvp is just ridiculous. At least in wow you don't have to do a lot of PvE or be a super old player to afford PvP. I think this is one of the reasons the game is doing bad (I think I could be wrong).

Eve is basically a giant PvE game disguised as PvP. Id rather have 1000 battles than 10 battles and 990 parts pve. If I had 100 more years of life I would definitely play EvE though. Its sad because its such an awesome game with the only flaw being a lack of skill/balance, and having to wait insanely long times to max skills. I mean even a virtual fleet battle like Arena mode for WoW would make EvE perfect imo. But the ratio of pve to pvp is just way to bad cuz you have to fund your ship. The most recent patch fixed a whole ton of problems but the core of lack of balance and skill which is needed for cut throat cloak and daggers Machiavelli game undermines the main reason I play games. Its such a good game and if you can deal with that, then its the best MMO by far. Even the market is cuthroat and awesome.

CCP Y U NO ADD VIRTUAL BATTLE SO I CNA PLAY?
