I pointed out the controller pricing because for a decent mouse you can spend as little as 20 dollars and any keyboard will do as long as it lasts.
I have never once had a computer FAIL on me, after all my years no part has failed, short of fans, which last a good while so no reparation cost to computers. Where as the Xbox will RROD just sitting there
I have an Acer computer that I spent 80$ on to make into a gaming computer from back in 05-06 and it still runs current gen games including the new Alice, which still arguably runs games better than console. at higher settings.
Now I can spend another 50 and run those same games at high with my old 8800gt. which can be had for about 40-50 dollars now days.
Like everyone has been saying you can go with the top of the line enthusiast equipment or the budget equipment that does just fine and still outperforms consoles...
You also fail to realize that money can be MADE from buying a computer...
Yes consoles are great for the normal person who doesn't know crap about computers... those are the same people that buy macs because they think they are the best computers.

Like I said, show me a rig at the time of the PS3 launch that will still outperform the PS3 to this day and include a blu-ray drive. Also, don't assume you can travel forward in time and buy 8800 gtx's for $50 when they cost $500+ at launch. Also, my PS3 I got at launch is still working just fine, so you can throw out the BS repairs argument. All electronics have a chance to fail.

Until you can do that, you have no ground to stand on.

I've had both consoles for a few years each.

PC for the last year or so.

No,its not a cheap.

Really the question they should have asked is, is it worth it.
Then compare a few games on on both pc and console, see which plays, looks and feels better.

When the Ps3 first came out it was 599$ plus a few games.. enough said. consoles are old and outdated know thats why they are cheap.

I'm a gamer. I have PS3 and 360 and PC. If the game is available on PC, I buy it for PC. l don't care that it costs more than a console in the long run.

Agree - PC gaming IS more expensive (hardware), however the quantity of quality games you can get (Steam, etc) is far better than for consoles. Plus graphics are nearly always superior, and the modding community for many high-profile games is a huge X-factor.

Getting the same quality as a console? It runs PC Crysis at 1920x1080 resolution on high with no AA. I ran a few other current games on it while testing aswell, including the likes of Borderlands, Aliens vs Predator, Unreal Tournament 3, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Battlefield: Bad Company 2. All at the same resolution, some with slightly differing settings, all looking much better than their console counterparts.

Tried and tested. thumb.gif

So I think not, but nice try. It would struggle if you tried to run it at settings that would make even some of the stronger graphics cards cry in some games, but it is more than an adequate card at settings above and beyond the capabilities of either of the current generation consoles.

And on top of that you could buy a 560ti for an extra £50 if you wanted even better performance, but it's not really neccessary unless you really want to push the bar at 1920x1080 and beyond.

It won't last 3 years from today. So nice try to you.

Pc gamers are constantly having a go at this debate but going by 2 different thoughts that are on entirely different edges of the spectrum. If you want a pc that will keep blasting consoles away you will need a more expensive setup and will need to keep upgrading it. If you want a pc closer to console prices ( cause you think pc gaming isn't expensive) then you will have an old hardware pc that will not run on ultra settings now and defenitely not in 3 years time.

Gamers with such a cheap pc should be thankfull for consoles. If consoles weren't holding hardware back you'd have an outdated pc within a year.

I have nothing against pc gaming at all and do it myself. But it is just ignorant to say it is equally expensive as console gaming. It isn't unless you pirate games.

I think you guys are forgetting that the developers can tweak the hell out of the console games so that they are optimized to the maximum to squeeze every last Frame out of the console.
The PC does not have that luxury. All they can do is ballpark the code so that it runs well on Low end PC's as well as High end PC's. From there its up to the user to use the settings to optimize the game to their own PC.

So to say that you can't run todays games on 6 yearold hardware is pretty much right. They cannot take into account that many variables. But on the PS3/Xbox 360 they have no unknown variables so they Can run the game on those systems due to the fact they are allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the same.

Also Might I add that you make everything even? By even I mean if you have a $2,000 65" flat screen for the Xbox 360 but only a 21.5" $115 on your PC that isn't even. I would consider an even trade would be a 30" 1600p monitor at $1,400 but not a freaken 21.5" monitor FFS!

The problem with PC though is that the same hardware last's no where near 3 years. I usually have to upgrade my video card once a year and CPU once every 2 years to stay on top of everything. While consoles do get different revisions, the first gen variations are still able to play games just fine.
