Need some help overcloking a Phenom II x4 965 BE (Beginner)

I finally got my new CPU fan a couple of days ago, and though it was about time I started learning how to properly overclock my current cpu.
As I'm pretty much new to this I'm going to need some help. (Don't want to ruin my computer by a mistake)
I'm not sure what you guys would need to help me begin my overclocking adventure, so I included a SS my CPU-Z. And as a side note, my cpu fan is Noctua NH-D14.

586

I'm looking to get a 24/7 OC as high as possible while (hopefully) keeping my computer intact.
As I'm really new to this aswell, there is some stuff I don't get. So if possible, try to explain the steps as simple as you can. redface.gif

If there is anything else you guys need to know just tell me and I'll see if I can provide the info.
I'll be looking forward to your replies/help on this matter. biggrin.gif

i turned my multipliers to x19 and got 3819 mhz with no voltage increase, you could try that then run prime95 for a hour or two to check stability.if that works out then try your multipliers at x19.5,i had to increase cpu vcore voltage to 1.48 to get it to run stable at 3919 mhz.Make sure you dont go above 1.50 volts on the cpu vcore you can go higher but ???????????? your safe at 1.50 volts. ive had my multipliers set to x20 wich gives me a 4019 mhz overclock with vcore voltage set to 1.5 volts thats as far a ive got so far with this board good luck

Here are a few tips, and a basic overclock to try out. First off. When overclocking an AMD like your 965 your going to want to push both the CPU freq and the NB freq aswell. You will bet a nice performance boost from overclocking the north bridge and you can get much more stability from it aswell. Also, dont use that ASUS program to monitor temps. There are better programs. I love Open Hardware Monitor, its free and works great! Here are some basic oc settings to try.

Leave RAM at stock.
Leave your CPU buss at stock(200)
adjust your CPU multi to 20.0
Change CPU voltage to 1.450v
Change your CPU/NB freq to 2600
Change CPU/NB voltage to 1.25 or 1.30. its its not stable change it to 1.35

If its still not stable change Vcore to 1.50 and try to up the CPU/NB freq to 2800.
Leave HT link at stock(2000)

Once you are prime 95 stable for 10+ hours then you can try to oc the memory. Good luck:) here is a pic of my settings just for reference.

Ignore my WIE, and GPU clocks lol.

and lastly WELCOME! to OCN.net!!

Thanks Khaotic, I'll see what I can manage to do as it seems like something is wrong with my computer, and I think I got an idea as to what might be causing it.

When I was going to install the new fan a few days ago I took the cpu out to replace the paste on it. When I was trying to lie it back in place it didn't fit, I took a look at it and several of the pins were bent in all kinds of directions. I just bent them back in place, hoping it would work. Didn't notice anything until today.

Now my computer will shut down if I touch any of the cables at the back of my computer. And it's acting all weird.

Anyone know if it's caused by the CPU being done for?

Other problems I've had is:
- All cores not working.
- Random setting keep popping up in bios.
(Cpu bus will go up to 216, Ram will be set at 1440Mhz and Cpu at 3672Mhz. That is the most common thing to happen)

That, plus it randomly shuts down at times.
