Can not boot/shotdown system (Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P) - Page 2

Shows how much I know my own board, I could have sworn there were diagnostic LED lights, but you are right, the manual shows none. I was probably thinking of my old Biostar Tforce550 board.

Can you swap the old CPU back in to test if it works?

Also, you said the first issue. Did something happen before this time it wouldn't power on?

Nope I sold x3 720 about a week ago ....talk about luck

if you find the leds on the board let me know ...but I checked the pictures and there are none ...would be very useful to have one now

Yes, the first such issue happened about a week ago ...the same scenario ...system started (case leds, fans working), black screen
system did not boot, and could not be turned off when holding the start button. The system was shotdown by turning of the power supply.
After about an hour, the system started and booted successfully.

For a week the system worked ok, start/boot without problem.

Yesterday, when starting the system I noticed a slightly longer boot time ...the computer turned on but the screen went black and goes to
sleep ... then the post screen appeared

Today when starting the computer the case leds and fans turned on, but the monitor went to sleep and stayed black.

My first suggestion would be to unplug the HDD and all but one stick of RAM. If you have a GFX card and have an onboard video use that. But the main goal now is to start eliminating potential problems in the hardware. Reduce the components that need to be looked at at once. After you strip it to a bare system try booting into BIOS. If you are able to boot into BIOS it may be your HDD, or one of the other sticks of RAM.
Or as suggested before, if you have another system, start swapping parts between them and find the one that is broken.
Good Luck
