Exactly why I made a post a week or so ago looking for suggestions about holding off on building or just doing it anyway. I ultimately decided to hold off although some of the current deals are hard to resist. I realized the mistake I made in high school and me leaving with the Navy a year later didn't help with keeping up to date on hardware either. :/

My reflection of PC gaming...thinking.gif...I simply enjoy it thumb.gif And if I had to choose 1 over the other, it would be PC gaming. Why? Because of convenience. With the PC, I can play awesome games & use it for work biggrin.gif I do prefer gameplay over graphics but if I can have both, I'll except it without hesitation. I also enjoy the mods that are available for PC games. At the end of the day, I just feel like I get my money's worth over time from PC gaming than console gaming. I do own a PS3 but only use it for fighting games, sports, & 1st-party exclusive titles.

I play the best exclusive, Life. PC Games are good as well as console games. Games are just that: games, and all games are played and enjoyed by the player, no need to stereotype if one players enjoys something you do not.

If you give me 650 dollars (minus monitor and keyboard) I will build you a gaming system that will work on games for 5 years (it will run them not at the highest graphics at one point but it will run them)

Also, it will out perform next gen consoles NOW.

Also I would hold off until Feburary when the GPU prices will drop.. the 6xxx AMD and 5xx Nvidia will run for a long time.

BTW your next gen consoles are going to be running about 600 dollars at release.

^This...been playing PC games since 1992 and had my fair share of console games too. Not sure what point the OP was trying to make but rant.

OK, here goes.

There is a cadre of PC gaming enthusiasts who feel slighted by a gaming industry that used to prioritize them. These feelings are not without merit; I won't rehash the well known shift towards console and its consequences for PC gamers.

Some, I say some, of these folks have engaged in criticizing just about any multiplatform game they feel is tainted by the demands of the console market. Sometimes their criticism is accurate, and other times it is done as an attempt to shame developers for their perceived misdeeds (see the ten paragraph Amazon reviews bashing Skyrim 10 minutes after release, by people who clearly hadn't even played the game). Ultimately it is done out of a little bit of desperation: they're concerned that a game platform they enjoy so much will be watered down or abandoned, leaving them behind, but mostly it's done out of love for PC gaming.

So sometimes they nitpick whatever they can, wherever they can, just to keep the pressure up. The easy target when comparing the two platforms is graphics, so that's what they hit. It's not because they only care about graphics, but because they care about PC gaming and the virtues they feel it brings: a higher graphics ceiling, a mod community, and according to some an all around better experience due to flexible, tailored hardware. It's always been about the game.

Sincerely,
His Holiness, the Dalai Llama
!@#$ Steam, though.
