Radeon 6950 or something else

Sometime this week I should be receiving a brand new 6950 2gb GPU that I got for a great deal. I'm not the most up to date on which video cards are the best and if nvidia or ati are better video cards so my question is this. Should I sell the 6950 and get a different video card? I just built my sig rig and once I get a new card I will finally be able to play the newer games hopefully with some decent settings. It looks like depending on the brand of my card I should be able to sell if for around $250ish (I may be wrong on this). If for this price this is a good card that is fine with me, but if I can sell this card and getting a cheaper video card that will still perform good on like BF3 and Skryim and still play decently on even newer games that would be great.

Basically is there any other cards that will give me more bang for my buck, whether its for around the same price but preforms better than the 6950 will, or something that will be cheaper but still perform as good as the 6950.

There is nothing else in the $250 segment that will perform better than the 6950 2GB - if its a reference design, you have the potential to unlock it to a 6970 which would provide even further performance gains (approx 15%). If you say that you got it at a good deal, I would just be happy with paying a low price for a very nice high end card!

The only better cards are going to be: AMD 6970, 6990 or Nvidia: 570, 580, 590 - all of which are much beyond the $250 price point. Good luck and enjoy your new GPU!

Thanks for the reply. thumb.gif
After I posted this I remembered about the anandtech benchmarks and looked at that I saw basically what you said. A higher performing card would cost me more and for the deal I got for this I think I'll stay with this card. biggrin.gif
