I'd skip on the VG278H. There seems to be more threads here about bleeding.. and all that stuff with that monitor here not to mention it's pricey. It also has shakey reviews on newegg (there's a thread on it here). Quality wise I say this should be your last option..

The V3D245.. I personally have not met anyone here on ocn that has that monitor.. lol based on reviews its good but like you said.. it's pricey for a surround setup.

Not too sure on the VG236H but it seems to have good brightness which will be good for 3D but the contrast ratio seems relatively low. The nvidia kit is external which means you'll have a little clutter on your desk(not always a bad thing for some people). It also isn't an LED backlight monitor.. at least not that I know of.

The planar .. I seriously can't find specs for this monitor. All I know is that it's not backlight, most people here like them except for a few who also have bleeding and ghosting issues. For the same price and size though, I would rather get the Viewsonic one since it's much newer + built in emitter, LED backlight etc.

Soo.. in this oder

1)Viewsonic V3d245
2) VG236H
3) Planar
4)VG278H

Note: I can probably be slight biased since I'm shopping for a monitor as well and I've been eyeing the V3D245. It seems to give the best bang for the buck IMO. Especially if you're aiming for Nvidia 3D.

If all else fails. wait for the BenQ XL2420T coming out "supposedly" next year around January? All rumors though.
