crosshair iv ethernet not working. - Page 2

post #11 of 17
I had the same problem, If you have another PC and a USB flash drive, download the ethernet driver from: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/Crosshair_IV_Formula/#download

put the ethernet driver on the usb flash drive, plug that in to your PC with the crosshair IV and install it, problem fixed thumb.gif

Wow I didn't even know they make those, if the wireless goes crazy during an important match you bet this is the way im gona go haha

@aftershock64
I already did frown.gif sadly did not work, the lights don't even light up when i plug it in (I'm assuming theres LEDs on the ethernet port like my old mobos.)

I've also been thinking about updating the router since my roomates xbox doesn't get good connection either

I think since we live in an appartment the other wireless devices are causing interference, and yes before you all jump to the wrong conclusion the router is secured lol.

It'd be super cool, you could put LED's all around it and stuff. Something like this:

People would walk in and seriously be ***'ing. I might do it someday with just a cheap setup haha. But yeah, BF3 is better than COD. COD was great until they decided to make like 47 different ones and nothing really different about them.

Try completely uninstalling the wierless, it may be conflicting with the IRQ of the Ethernet. Then install the drivers for the ethernet. From there, Ethernet is set to standby until used, so no, they won't light up unless connected to a internet source. If they still don't light up when plugged in, let me know. Going through this stuff with my Networking Concepts class, may have to manually set the speed your ethernet runs. When a ethernet driver is installed, the speed is always set to Auto-Negotiate, which is fine, if your router is newer than `05, if not, you will have to tell it maually what speed to run at. Also, if it is that old, it don't matter if you have a Gigabit Ethernet LAN, the highest you will ever see is 10 megabit. If your Xbox 360 is having trouble with connecting to it, yeah, it probably needs a firmware update, and the xbox needs to be set for a Static IP address, and Port Forwarded.

well its not that it has trouble connecting to it, just random lag spikes to a point where we just shut it off for a bit and watch tv. router is a Linksys E1000 (bought last year refurb) so I shouldn't have to set the speed. The ethernet works, I've tested it on multiple laptops so there really shouldn't be a problem with the router. I'll try uninstalling the wireless usb drive, but I still think there must be a broken connection somewhere. Also the concern isn't so much with the throughput of data, but more of a constant internet connection so I don't drop from games or cause lag (i hate laggers so I would hate to be one). while wireless is nice sometimes it won't hold up perfectly for those 6 hour gaming sessions after a midterm lol.

As for the xbox I havent set up port forwarding and I'm not sure if its set to have a static ip address, unless it does this automatically then Its not set.

ty for the help I'm still away from my desktop cuz I'm taking care of my mom but I'll be back out in a couple days, hopefully she will get better soon.

@iinversion

dude that looks sick... If i wasn't living in an apartment I'd probably put up an old system for a wall computer haha, siiick.
