You could build him better for $1200. You could build him a pc with a 2500k and 560ti or maybe even a 570 for that price. Also 750 watt psu seams a little on the large side.

edit: Here is something I put together quickly.
Case : Thermaltake v9 black edition - 74.99 ( + $25 MIR)
HDD: Seagate barracuda 1tb 7200RPM sata 6gb/s - 139.99
GPU: GTX 570 - 329.99
PSU: Corsair HX650 - 119.99
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) - 39.99
MOBO: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 - 124.99 (+ $10 MIR)
CPU: 2500k - 219.99
Disk Drive: LITE-ON Black SATA DVD-ROM - 17.99

For a subtotal of 1,067.92 - 35 (if you do MIR's)

Keep in mind I threw this together quickly all from Newegg so if you really looked you could probably save a few bucks here and there.

I'm digging this build personally.

You could always throw an Ivy bridge chip in there later on too since its socket 1155.
