Very odd, temps look to be nice and low.

Maybe check into GPUZ and see if any other temps are raising up to a scary region. Are you able to test the card in another PC or do you have a spare PSU laying around or that you can borrow.

A bit off topic but how can you play at ~30fps, that would make me a sad panda. I would personally drop the AA / Graphic quality down to get a nice and even 60fps.

Edit:
The fact that its happening over multiple games could be a driver issue, grab yourself driver sweeper uninstall your drivers for your card. Reboot into safe mode and run the sweep on any leftover video card drivers. Then reboot into w7 and install the latest non beta drivers for your card.

I'll look into the drivers.

I just tweaked the graphics down and was achieving 50-60 fps but then gpu usage was up at 99% ..is it time to buy a better gpu? .. everything else looks fine; temps / cpu / memory.. would I be right to say its the GPU usage that's crippling me ?

Cheers redface.gif

All i can say is I wish that I could get 99% GPU usage on Skyrim with my setup =(

If you feel comfortable with how its running (outside of the problem your having ATM) then why upgrade?

And yes your GPU is holding the rest of your system back, not that its a bad thing everyone is going to have at least one component holding back another its just how it works.

Anyway if you were to get a new card then you should get a new CPU / Motherboard / RAM so maybe just wait until you feel the need to do a complete system overhaul.

30fps is fine, and smooth for most people...? It was generally regarded as the minimum smooth frame-rate until recently for some reason. Personally I can't really tell the difference apart from it being a little smoother.

OT: -1c? Drivers are almost definitely your problem, if not faulty hardware. (The GPU specifically)

as mentioned. first thing to change (check) is shadows (i have them at high with my tf3 as ultra rapes frown.gif ), move them to medium, pop AA to 4x. got my mate going from sticky frames while running to spinthecameralikeatwatwhilerunningaboutthetopofamountain without frames noticabely dipping (on a HD5570).

If your Optimal settings is the same as mine and my brothers, then you will need to turn aa from 8x to Off, and change shadows to medium.
My old computer did this (not with skyrim, but other games) and it was caused by the video drivers, reverted back to the older drivers and everything was great.
