new computer case..looking for best bang for buck mid tower

Thread Starter
I have been looking at cases and changed my mind about 4-5 times times based on the price and what I am getting for my money. I once was about to order the HAF 932 on Black Friday but didn't since I really don't need a full tower..not for a couple years until I go liquid cooling. Right I am on a little more of a budget. I was then set on the CM 690II and liked it space. I went to my local MicroCenter and was able to look at a lot of cases. I ran across the NZXT Tempest 410 Elite aand really like its unique features...pop out fans..accessible top dual rad support. Large side panel etc..Anyone have any thoughts or other suggestions or know of a decent case that offers anything comparible? The closest I can think of is the HAF 912 Advanced

the Carbide 400/500R cases are good mid towers with very good wire routing and good price point. Though I take it that you want a window on the side panel so that wouldn't work the best. So it that case (pun semi intended) I would say HAF 912 or HAF X. I have not had personal experience with them but I have always heard good things about them.

Not sure on whats your price range would be, but I personally would go with the corsair 600T if I were to go mid tower.

Have you thought about one of the Fractal Design cases? I think the Arc Midi is a great case. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352007

I was looking at some of the same cases mentioned above, but ended up ordering a Lian-Li PC-V1020B. It will arrive via UPS today.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112308&Tpk=pc-v1020b

The considerations that ended up outweighing the other cases were:

1) The Lian-Li has proven airflow/great temps without the necessity of making fan changes.

2) Its all-aluminum construction cuts down on the weight, and its casters allow it to roll, which I am grateful for after having to pick up my Raven RV02-E. I'm 30 years old and it ain't getting any easier from here.

3) It has completely removable hard drive cage -- I'm going to be using my SSD as my only drive so I will be able to remove the cage for better airflow.

4) It has a separate PSU compartment with its own intake/outake to keep the heat out of the rest of the case.

5) Removable mobo tray and little touches like mobo thumbscrews make it seem easy to work with.

6) Lack of plastic parts and being built of aluminum means it should last a long time.

I'm missing out on things like a side window, all-black interior, cable management grommets. But those are all kinda aesthetic considerations that don't really matter to me as much as they used to. It's still a sharp looking black case, and I don't really look inside my case window right now at all, anyway.

Lots of HD bays... It is wide which might be good for cable management behind the motherboard tray. Like the brushed finish.

I love the look of the 400/500R... esp in white for some reason - very clean. I do wish they had a side window for it. That case checks all boxes except that one. I could do a mod for it later. I like a healthy mix of function and form. Either of those are "maybes." They both have very good cable management for clean look and around my budget. I am looking to not spend more than $120.

sadly a little out of my range. I am looking at upgrading my GPU soon so I need to spare a little for that.
Great suggestion tho! thumb.gif
