I am getting lots of beep codes .Only on the first boot of the day though?Where do I start???

I have been getting what seemed like random beep codes from my comp when I start up. None of them match any code in my mobo manual. And this only seems to happen in the morning after it has sat all night resting. This might be a clue???Any how the computer continues to load into windows as if nothings going on. I have been having problems with my video card lately and I took that out and put in an old x700 that works and the beeps continue so the vid card is probably not the fault. It just sucks that you have to wait all night to see if its going to beep again. Oh and the computer does give the single beep when I power it up as if all is good then it starts with a long beep lasting nearly until windows is loaded. The long beep starts after the memory test while its waiting to detect hard drives and cd drives.
Ok so im going to do the best I can at describing these codes
1 long , 27 short
1 long , 5 short, 1 long , 1 short , 1 long , 17 short
1 long , 8 short, 1 long , 1 short , 1 long , 17 short
1 long , 2 short, 1 long , 33 short
and the 1 I got this morning 1 long , 1 short , 1 long , 1 short , 1 long , and 12 short
There you all go none of the codes seem to match anything in my book I have Award modular bios APG 6.0. Where do I start, I think today Im going to try the hd 6850 in another computer and see if that is working or not. On my computer It was fine in windows, but when I went into a game I got a black screen and it returned to windows saying driver stopped responding and has recovered.I did reinstall drivers and catalyst with same results. and maybe just for double checking I just installed a zaleman cooler a few weeks ago on the cpu just reseat everything and make sure I didnt bend any pins. What should I do after that? Thanks for all the help Mike

Have you tried resetting the CMOS jumper and booting with just one stick of RAM, in different slots?

Being that athe majority of the beeps are short and it goes on forever im leaning at this...

Continuous Short beeps: Power error.

It could make sense being that the first power cycle fails after discharging and cooling.... To confirm or deny this. Try a different power suppy, if it persists with a different power supply I would lean at MOBO.

Actually nauticus it only beeps for like 3 min then stops. But I do agree with you. I took the CPU off and no bent pins and everything looks good there, put it back together and still beeping. I tried to test my hd6850 on my moms computer and couldn't seem to get it going at all frigen biostar ami bios is horrible compared to mine. Probably a wrong setting , anyhow I'm hooking her power supply up right now to my computer so well see what happens. Now that I think about it I remember something rattling in my ps when I unpacked it, and I just recently put my case speaker in so maybe this thing has been bad all along?ill let you all know what happens shortly. Thanks mike

Did you try a new CMOS battery? I have to change mine out about every 6 months. This is my first gigabyte board, so I assume that's a gigabyte thing? Not sure, but something else for you to try.

Ok so I swapped out my ps for my moms its an antec neo eco 620 and at first the thing was a long continuous beep that didnt stop. I went and checked all temps everything looked good . So I go into bios and look at the settings and fan fail alarms are set to on. I disable them and the beeping has stopped. So now I guess I have to Hook my ps back up and see if I still get a beep code my ps has been resting all night so if it is that it should start beeping. Well have to see. I dont have another battery around but knowing my luck it would be something simple like that

you say something was rattling around in your power supply when you unpacked it? id guess thats probably the source of the problems. i was told not too long ago that for the last year xfx power supplies were suspect by a few of the guys at microcenter saying theyve had a huge turnaround on those. maybe xfx had a bad batch? I've personally never used a gigabyte board for myself, but for the computer company i work for we do custom gaming builds and weve sold everything from asustek, to gigabyte to msi and usually we stick with cooler master corsair and pc power and cooling for psus. i used to hear good things about xfx power supplies but that was at least 2 years ago. if a new psu doesnt solve the beeping id say load windows and use prime 95 to stress the processor and ram at stock settings. if prime 95 fails with all stock settings and you can pass memtest 86 id say its got to be board related then. could be cmos battery or maybe the board itself is bad out of the box?
