LF: Graphic Design for Snowboard (Compensation possible)

So I'm looking at having a custom snowboard produced as I've always wanted one. After many years of options I've found a company that I really like, love their boards, and have spoken with them about doing a custom one-off design. I have either the option of paying them to draw it up (which could be very costly) or seeking help from the OCN community as a favor and possibly some payment depending on the quality / how hard it is to draw up.

What they've said the image needs to be:
Minimum 13" x 65" for each layer(A little larger for some overlap) with a vector file being preferred but a png/jpg would work as well if its decent quality 100-150+ dpi. (Smaller/less quality images may work but if it will be blurry then we won't be able to print it!)

What I'd love to get:
Bottom:
I love graffiti and if someone could make my user name pheoxs across the base of the board in fairly bright colors (they said no fluorescents though). So yellows/oranges/baby blue with any type of background (pref not plain black) that makes the font pop out
XuYWi.png

Top:
The top I'd offer free reign to whoever wants to help with this. I love boarding, cars, dragons, phoenixs, video game characters, pretty much anything so if you have some favourite designs or want the opportunity to see your artwork get made I'd love to see it! The only requirement will be along the bottom edge of the border or somewhere merged into the graphics I'd like to put the snowboard companies name, as well as whoever helps design the board, whether its your username, real name, company name etc is up to you.

I don't think this is a terribly difficult request, but getting images with huge horizontal resolutions is the annoying part (8-10,000 pixels) If the community could help out with this I'd be ecstatic and if someone does an amazing job I'd be willing to send some $ via PP.

TL;DR: Need a pair of huge files (2k x 10k res) images to print on a snowboard. If anyone is interested post up here or PM me.

Because of the holidays I don't have a whole lot of clients right now. This sounds like a fun project! What is the name of the snowboard company?

Feel free to PM me if you would like my email address.

Subbing.

Doesn't look like I have a lot of time in the near future, but if I do I will put up some designs.

Interested to see what people come up with, and an interesting project.

13" x 65"?? Crazy! Vectoring such a large area would take alot of time, no wonder they wanted to charge an arm and a leg lol

If it was as simple as drawing your name out in graphitti, I could do that no problem, but having to vector it out..yeah.

So does Pheoxs have any type of particular meaning behind it that could be incorporated into the piece?

If its just a high res jpg/png that will work too, vector is just their preferred format, a bitmap would work fine.

As far as the meaning, its mostly just personal / unique / used as a username so it doesn't really have a theme tied into the piece. I tried to leave the design as open ended as possible as everyone has their own style and I love seeing what people can do when you give them options.

How would creating a vector graphic take more time? That's the quickest possible way to get it done...

If the grafitti were very detailed, vectoring out the curves would take a long time, and blowing it up to large dimensions would expose any messy work.

I agree though, shouldn't be too bad. Just a bit of monotonous tracing.

It doesn't have to be a vector though. If you already have the graffiti sufficiently large so that it won't be blurred printing it ~65" wide then that is fine. But if you were drawing the graffiti from scratch it'd be easier to just make it a vector from the start to scale it up.

I can do small designs on very minor stuff, but I suck other then that. So I will just sub and sit back to see the possible epic designs of the community. I wish I had the money to get a custom board. I always loved the world industries boards when i first started, they had such crazy designs.

And see thats partly what led to this. None of the newer designs appeal to me, so why not get something I love. And the custom board won't be too bad. ~550$ + shipping is what I'm looking at. Which is more or less what it'd cost me for any major board unless I'm buying the cheapest one they make whereas this will actually be a quality board + sick looking.

I played with photoshop a bunch yesterday, had quite a bit of fun too, its been way too long. I can make some cool looking stencils, but just can't get it to go well with the background. I was looking at some designs and there's some amazing boards, wish I could do graphic design like that.
