1/3 Brigther than rest of monitor, any fix

I'll apologize now I'm kinda new to all of this.

In short, just got an Asus 27" LED VK278Q monitor, it's an upgrade from a 6 yr old 21" Gateway widescreen monitor.

Literally just got it last night, and it didn't take me long to find a flaw with it. It didn't have any dead pixels, but the bottom one third of the screen is much brighter than the top two thirds. I had read about this problem in general b4 getting it, not sure if it's specific to LED's or this model though.

It's not too noticeable in a game with all the colors and moving and what not, but in Windows it's TERRIBLE. I had an orangey/gold icon on my desktop at the top of the screen, I moved it to the bottom and it became a faded/washed-out yellow. Same with a black icon at the top, nice rich black, at the bottom it became dark gray.

So I'm posting to see if there is any fix to this, but I'm pretty sure it's a defect like dead pixels. And also to see if ppl think it's worth trying to exchange or if I should just return it and get another one.

What you are describing is backlight bleeding. It's common in LED backlit LCDs as well as in CCFL.

Sometimes it's more severe than it should be.

If it bothers you that much then, yes returning it and exchanging would be the best option.

Thanks

Yeah I meant, I'm getting rid of it one way or another, but do you think it'd be worth the time to try an exchange it, or should I just outright return it now and look for a different one.
