Is 6gb enough? - Page 2

You need 16 GB. Don't let anyone tell you any different. That way you wont have to upgrade in the foreseeable future.

Exactly when the GSKill DDR3 1600 2x4GB were on sale for 29.99, unless you don't have the funds, there wasn't really a reason not fill out 4 slots for me Now they are sold out. Keep watch they may come back in stock.

I don't know why they keep advising you to use 4GB or 8GB or 16GB...

You DO have this board, right?
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Big-Bang-XPower.html#/?div=Basic

If so, it's a TRIPLE channel memory config you need...

Like 3x 2GB
or 3x 4GB
or...

And that's why I said: go for the 3x 4GB, it's almost free RAM tongue.gif
Just be sure it's these speeds:
DDR3 1600/1800/2133 (and not 1866MHz)

In BF3 I need more than 4GB.

Before I launch BF3 my memory shows about 1.5GB used. With 4GB my load times were horrible and my hard drive was getting thrashed. mad.gif

Now I have 8GB. In game it goes over 6GB used. And my page file is disabled. Load times are great, I now get to wait for the countdown to start. tongue.gif

The OP has 64 bit OS. So do most of us.

While a game may run, it may not run well or at all at higher settings.
