psu not enough outlets?

Thread Starter
ok so after crimbo im looking to upgrade my GPU to either a 580 gtx or a new 6xx card,

problem i am having is that the 580s require 2 pci-e 6pin power supplies (AFAIK) and my power supply only has 2, i want to be able to SLI the card as soon as i have some more scratch!

suggestions?

sig rig its a 700w version of this

700w isn't enough power for 2 gtx 580s and if you dont believe me look at this.

You would want at least 850 watts.

If it was enough power then you can get a 2 molex to 1 pci-e power adapter (well 2 of them).

any suggestions?

My gtx 580 requires one 8pin and one 6pin power cable, and like mentioned above 700 watts most likely will not be able to power dual 580's. I would recommend an 850 watt.

edit: Make sure if you get a 850 watt PSU it is a "good" one. I would purchase a PSU off of this list.

are 2 580s going to be enough for 7680 x 1600??? or am i going to need more? ( 3x 2560x 1600s) ie 1 580 per display? or should i just sack the idea off and buy a big telly and hook it up to that? i mean its plugged into my 43" nec atm rolleyes.gif

A quality 750W will suffice for two GTX580s.
