Do you do anything but bash good monitors?

Seriously, look at your posts, at least 90% of them if not all are in the monitors section and you are flaming another monitor in almost all of them. Everyday I see a stupid post about IPS lag or Antiglare and before even checking I know it is from you. Do you work for a monitor company?

I had the w2442pa--bf.

And what I think is that the W2442PA-BF is a terrible monitor compared to the u2412m. It has a lower resolution, it has much more aggressive overdrive trails that are clearly visible when scrolling text and even in games with any high contrast moving images, unlike the u2412m which performs fantastically in most situations. Both have low input lag. Both have noticeable matte coating. Those are the subjects you touch upon when mocking the u2412m.

Now on top of that, the w2442pa-bf is a TN panel, and a mediocre one at that. Even when I knew literally nothing about monitors ( a year back ), I immediately noticed the banding the monitor had, as well as the backlight flicker issues, and started producing faint horizontal scrolling artifacts after a few months. My particular unit also had moderate backlight bleed.

I won't recommend against TN panels in general for a monitor. But I will recommend against this one.

For the question the OP asked, the u2412m is definitely superior here.

Thread resurection! I have this same question and was curious if anyone else has feedback on this monitor for gaming? I am an all around gamer playing rpgs and fps. Alot of diablo 3, skyrim, and borderlands lately.

I am cought between going the ips route with this monitor or maybe a 120hz such as the benq xl. Also, will this Dell give me less viewable area on the left and right due to the 1920 x 1200 resolution when compared to a 1080?

Thanks for any input!!

It's a good monitor. I researched this monitor and it's smaller cousin the U2312HM. I ended up buying two of the 23" versions and I am in love with them. I game almost every day and it's worked out perfectly.

Just buy it and don't look back.

I've got it and it works great. Very quick, no response time issues or anything like that.

I believe with 1920x1200 you are actually getting more vertical viewing space for games rather than less horizontal, but it would depend on the FOV settings of the game. thumb.gif

Bought this thing a few months ago and it's awesome, color reproduction is really good and blows my older Samsung TN panel out of the water in almost every way especially viewing angle.

Thanks for the additional feedback! It seems like everyone who orders it is very positive. TFT central had a great review and surprised me at how well it stands up to even 120HZ gaming monitors. I think I am going to pull the trigger tomorrow at microcenter for $329. IPS just seems like the way to go these days unless you are a super BF3 crazy fps mega competitor.

U2412M is a 16:10 monitor and all games are made for 16:9 these days.

Aside from... well... this list. The majority of that list is vert- games, which means that they fit the best the less wide your aspect ratio is. 16:9 gets inconvenient there. 16:10 less so, 4:3 even less so. Perhaps you should not spread around blatant misinformation. wink.gif (PS: that's just one popular engine that uses vert-, others exists)
