a 1U case is really thin, meaning the fans are really small meaning they'll be really really loud and higher pitched than you may be used to. If you're putting this in a server room or a basement, then sure, but otherwise, I would get the 3u/4u versions or just build from scratch. This however is a good deal if you can deal with the noise smile.gif

Of course you could mod in some waterblock and cut holes in the top for tubing to come out wink.gif Bear in mind also if you're going for the 12.5% overclock the supplied heatsinks may not deal that well, just bear it in mind, you may be fine though.

Right. In my basement, the unfinished portion, mounted against the cool concrete wall was the plan, which can handle the added heat even during the summer months.
Noise won't be an issue in there as well but I could easily leave off the top cover and add the better cooling, even H2O.
Now I just need to find used/on-sale CPUs if possible and decide whether to start with 4 x 8c, 2 x 12c or 1 x 16c.
Finding them used/on-sale may be the defining issue.

As Stren mentioned, the high noise and not so good cooling were the main reasons for me to just get the mb, cpu's and memory. With the money you save from getting the case you can buy better coolers and another power supply. Im sure that 1400 watt ps is overkill for that setup.

Bwhiten, that's a great deal, I myself been eyeing that for a week now but no moolah right now. But the downside. Is that you won't get any kind of warranty if you buy open box other than 30day return

Couldn't afford to buy his set anyway redface.gif
As far as warranty, that's right, 30 days for a refund is it, but you don't get much warranty on forums or Ebay as well, so it's pretty much a crap shoot!
With this box it would seem all I need to get it rolling is 1 CPU, 1 memory set and a nice quiet/cool place for it to fold smile.gif
Then add when the money is available.
Thanks for all the good advice. If I find a starting CPU price I can live with now I will pull the trigger.

Remember that the chance that the cpu's will die are very, very low. With what you will pay for 1 new cpu you can buy a few used ones. For the price of a new 6174(12 cores) you can buy 32 cores(4 x 8 cores) with the same speed. I used to buy nothing but new a while ago but to be honest is not the smart way to do it. Let someone else take the hit in price for you. Save your money for other stuff.
