Just command line since you can pretty much copy paste from the guides. I didnt bother installing HFM in that box since you can share the folder and monitor from a Windows machine. Its a lot easier that way.

I have an opportunity to trade my 6970 for a dual 1366 board like this: http://www.asus.se/Server_Workstation/Server_Motherboards/Z8NAD6/#specifications

Now, would this be a worthwhile board for the newer BA-16 that's coming, you think? As this is a non-OC board, I guess I'd need a couple of hexes w/ HT to go with this and the spec says max 95W, what speed would suffice? What discourage me are the prices for Xeons, had quick look on Fleabay earlier. Give me some pointers...

You have to run close to 3ghz on dual hex to finish on time on the new bigadv wu's to get bonus points. Those xeons are expensive since you cant oc the cheaper ones to reach that speed. I would not get anything that is not a SR2 board for the xeon cpu's to make sure you can make the deadlines.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Unless I can get some crazy cheap CPUs it probably won't be worth it.

e- Holy crap, just looked. Cheapest X5670=1000 bucks, no thanks... 2*X5670=4*6174. rolleyes.gif

Good advice. Also, if you don't have a very fast upload speed with your ISP, I would highly recommend installing Langouste. It allows the client to download and start a work unit before the completed WU has uploaded. You probably already know, but bigadv uploads can take a LONG time.

I will probably install that, even though I have Comcast business class speeds.
Thanks for all the help.

If you have business class there is no need for it. If you do install it make sure it does not download until the previous WU is almost complete. I have never used it but I have heard you can set it to download at a certain %, Remember the clock starts ticking the second you start downloading the WU.

Excellent information. I had not thought about the fact the timer goes off at download.
I will look at the setup to see what the options are. I'll also try to determine how much time it takes to download a large WU.
