Well with the Christmas and New Year holidays upon us, my plan would be to put in some serious hours then. Right now I would say sometime next week the parts for the ASUS Xeon should arrive. The biggest issue is going to be that I purchased the parts from about six different places to try and maximize cost reduction. I was not willing to spend an extra $30 for the 4P board to make sure it got here before Christmas so I would hope that will come between now and the new year. Some of the parts have already shipped, others are shipping sometime next week.
My goal with this project I guess is to not approach it with a lot of complexities. I know for an enthusiast community that may not be the best approach, but I figure simple to follow information might get others interested in folding. So for example I will probably include a 2600k, 2500k build in this as well. Only because I recently did a 2600k, have a second 2600k on the way, and just got home from buying a 2500k set of parts. I figure this way I can hit most, if not all the price points. I did not go with any AMD gear other than the Opterons mostly because I prefer the Intel lineup right now.
