720BE 24/7 Clocks

Just with a 965 BE Stock Cooler. On a Biostar A880G+. Just some simple 24/7 clocks. Hoping to unlock as well. What kinda clocks should I be looking for a 24/7 setup?

Thanks in advance! thumb.gif

Welcome to OCN thumb.gif

The 965 isn't unlockable mate frown.gif. Also, i'd refrain from OC'ing on that board since Biostar's A-series of boards('specially the 880g+) are NOT meant to handle the wattage of an OC'd 125w CPU, owing to weak VRMs.

Oops sorry, i read wrong, i thought you were using the 965 BE (didn't see the cooler part) tongue.gif

Yeah you should be good to go then, however, keep the chip locked 'till you get a better board. You can push it to about 3.5Ghz for safe 24/7 usage on the stock cooler.

The 880G+ is a low end board with a 3+1 phase setup. It is NOT meant to handle 125w CPUs, let alone with the same OC'd. You risk frying the 'fets if you unlock.

Phenom 720 is 95w. If I get to 3.5 with stock thats only like 110w.

I meant post-unlocking. As long as you keep the chip locked, you're good to go with that OC thumb.gif

They may have, bit you're still running at a risk. Overtime, the MOSFETs will degrade and that might not end well. Better safe than sorry biggrin.gif

That's a real tight budget. I'd suggest going in for this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128504

Make sure you get rev 3(4+1 phase), since rev 4 has a 3+1 setup.
