YES! Dual HPTX!
Really? Merlin will have dual mobo including HPTX as well?

Let's not jump the gun on this. HPTX and Dual systems are both very much in the "maybe" category wink.gif

Thus, an extended top will be favorable to those who want to watercool, and those who aircool and don't need radiator space can choose to keep the case at a smaller size. In addition, there are some who need more hard drive space, so perhaps a modular extension to fit hard drives will be good. Some people just use an SSD in their MATX builds so they would not use this extension and get to retain a smaller case size. Making the case more modular in this way I think would appeal to a much wider market segment.

That has been pretty much our philosophy all along and it will be the same with Merlin. I wouldn't classify Melrin as a true SFF case, but it will be significantly smaller than the MAGNUM series.

Best regards

Finland salutes you CaseLabs, the greatest of casemakers .

First of all, my face after I finished reading the first post -> lmaosmiley.gif

So it's scheduled to arrive Q2/12, huh? I've never quite understood the word "arrive" as it seems to differ from the meaning it has here. Does "arrive Q2" mean that I might have one sitting on my desk around may? Some people mean that you can buy it when it "arrives" whereas others mean that arrived=revealed and you can buy it like a month after. I'm just asking as I'm going to build a new pc around the end of Q1 / beginning of Q2, but I'll postpone if it means that I can buy myself a Merlin. Oh, and we're talking about the same Q2 here, right?(april-june) biggrin.gif

Do you have any estimations on how much the mATX-merlin would roughly weight, and how much would it cost to send it to scandinavia? The 10"x18"x18" (WxHxD) would be just the perfect size for me.

And of course I'm interested in the "regular" stuff like how many/what size radiators it'll be able to accommodate, price, 5.25" bay count and whether you're considering some kind of pedestal/extended top option or not. And please, if merlin has the traditional mobotray and space behind it for cable management, please make that space over 1" so that one could fit 3.5" drive(s) in there as I believe they're just a tad over inch thick.

I understand that Merlin is still on planning stages and I apologize if I asked too many questions. biggrin.gif
I just love you (and your cases too)! wubsmiley.gif

We're enthusiasts here at overclock.net. biggrin.gif A compact HPTX dual mb system would be excellent for folders. It's for a good cause!

Thanks! biggrin.gif By "arrive" I mean they will be available to purchase and yes we're talking April-June of next year wink.gif

I can't comment on specific features as I'm still waiting on input from "me" and "myself" tongue.gif

The truth is I scrapped the original concept (too expensive and too "MAGNUM" like) and will start with a clean sheet of paper (probably February). The pace of last year was crazy (7 cases, options, and accessories) and I need a break for a month or two to clear my head (and address other important business needs) before I get back into heavy design mode smile.gif Right now, I'm just roughing out the design goals and getting feedback from the community as to what they would like to see.

Given that the community wants to have their cake and eat it, maybe the best option would be to almost "build your own" i.e. you can choose from various widths, heights and depths and all options fit together in the same way.

i.e.

widths:
- single wide (for the masses)
- double wide for dual mobo's
- single wide but dual motherboard trays with half height cards (aka folder's delight)

heights:
- matx + psu (air cooler lan rig)
- matx + rads + psu (air cooler water rig)
- atx + psu (mid tower air cooler)
- atx + rads + psu
- xlatx + psu
- xlatx + rads + psu (full tower)

Depths:
- eatx depth only 1 hidden 3.5" + 2.5" + one hidden slim dvd behind tray (i.e. not as deep as most towers)
- eatx + 3x51/4" bays + 1 flexbay for HD's (standard mid tower depth)

To a certain extent you already do this on the magnum series. I can't see how to achieve all the hopes and dreams without doing it in this fashion.
