yes

is that 3 500gb hdds or just one?
(if 3, and with current prices, why not get 2 128gb m4's and raid 0 them)

no one can accurately tell you how much storage space you'll need. it depends on your usage.

So far, 1TB has been more than enough for me.

btw. newegg

also 128gb m4

It was seriously 3 500gbs?

again, why not just get a larger SSD and put everything on there. In fact get 2 and you should have more than enough storage.

Samsung F3 $110 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185&Tpk=samsung%20f3

Crucial m4 64GB $110 vs Samsung 1TB F3 $110
Crucial m4 128GB $210 vs 2xSamsung 1TB F3 $220

Your setup was 64gb+3x500GB (raid 0?)
not sure what prices you were looking at for 500gb units, but if you were willing to shell out around 400~

2x Crucial m4 128GB Raid 0 $420 should be enough to hold a ton of stuff already.

Or you could try the middle ground
128GB M4 + 1TB F3 = $320
64GB m4 + 1TB F3 = $220

How many apps do you have?!? I never use more than 40GB on my 64GB SSD with my OS and apps and I use quite a few!
Quote:
SSD= OS
HDD Spinpoint 500gb= Applications and what i move over from windows 7
HDD spinpoint 500gb= games
HDD spinpoint 500gb= Flight simulator X

The SSD should have the OS AND the Applications as well, why do you want to put apps on the HDD? The secondary HDD should be for data files...
Your flight simulator needs 500GB?!? lol

i have a ton of addons, over 275gb of addons, plus xplane 10 which is like 100gb so 375

i was thinking of this

64gb ssd= OS,Aim,Skype, Teamspeak, Anti virus, logitech keyboard programs and all that

1tb spinpoint and just partition for fsx and games and make a 3rd partition for my personal folder and page filing and stuff

i really dont know how i should do it thats why im asking for help really don't have any clue whats good for me. i want 500gb for fsx and 300 for steam games seperated. would 200gb be good for stuff like pagefiling and my personal folder.

what should i do with itunes?

I would have a dedicated drive for the flight sim as you originally planned in that case and for games.

I have a ton of personal files and have a dedicated 1TB drive just for them so I would suggest havomg a drive for your personal files separate from the games drive.

ALL programs like the OS, Aim, Skype, and such including itunes should be on the SSD. Also the pagefile should be on there too. Unless that flight sim needs an extra large pagefile that I don't know about then putting it on the secondary drive will be fine too.

So basically:
SSD = OS/pagefile and all apps
500GB = Personal files (Music, videos, pictures, documents, downloads, etc.)
1TB = Games

Or if you don't need the 500GB drive:
SSD = OS/pagefile and all apps
1TB = Games and Personal files (Music, videos, pictures, documents, downloads, etc.)

Easy.

Move user folder locations to Secondary HDD:
  1. Right click your folder (ex. My pictures)
  2. Click Properties
  3. Click the Location tab
  4. Change the destination to your other HDD (ex. D:\Pictures)
Note 1: Recommended, I do it for my user folders(ex. My Documents, My pictures, Desktop, etc.)
Note 2: If there are two of the same folder after the move (ie. My Documents "A" and My Documents "B") you should delete the empty one located on the C: drive.

If you want to move other folders you can use junctions as well.

Why would you need to move it?
