DRAM/CPU ratio? I don't quite understand

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I've read somewhere about DRAM/CPU ratio, but i don't quite understand it.
They said that the ratio 1:1 is the best way to go without holding the cpu back by the ram.

I know what a ratio is. But I don't really understand what changes I have to make to the FSB and DRAM frequency to achieve a 1:1 ratio.

See my specs below.
My current fsb is 200mhz. The cpu is overclocked to 3.8 ghz using the multiplier.
My current ram frequency is 800mhz (1600mhz ddr)
CPU-Z Says my current ratio is 1:4

I would really like to know more about this.

What changes can I make to achieve a 1:1 ratio?

Thanks in advantage

There's a good article here. I don't think this will directly answer your question, but it helps you understand better how these things work together.

Plus a whole list of good articles here...

If you oc by the FSB (CPU frequency) then it is best to keep the ratio 1:1 until you find the max FSB your cpu can handle.
