There you go. Crysis 1 bench.
I can only make it work in 64bit, for whatever reason... but the point here is the before/after patch, therefore comparing different systems would be pointless anyway =D

I don't see the pictures.

OK guys... enough for me today. O took note of future benchs and downloaded the 7zip.
I need my gaming fix. It's my 1st day of vacation, I freaking deserve it... teaching Law, writing books is teh suck.
Saints Row waits for me.

EDIT: Ok, it's a regular zip software... I did a winrar already, but I'll try this one.
Yeah it's free refer to my "guide" below for quick instructions:

As for the settings make sure that the LZMA2 compression method is used to enable multithreading and make sure that you use 7z as the archive format. The other settings don't matter too much as long as you keep them the same for both tests. Timing how many seconds each one takes would make a nice comparison. There's also a benchmark option under tools you could run to see any difference in MIPS (let it run for at least 10 passes).

Have fun with saints row 3, I completed it a few days ago ^_^

The Crysis 1 benchmark did show 4 fps improvement. Although that's not that much it is an improvement. Sorry to say but you know you are going to have to re-do all of these in a few weeks when they re-release the patches. At least u are getting the experience and will be a pro by then haha. Good stuff man

That's all fine but performance wise, this fix is no different than going into bios and enabling one core per module. Regardless thanks for all the work you put into this.

By enabling one core per module in bios that makes it a 4c/4thread cpu. Didnt this patch make it a 4core/8thread cpu? I have no clue what Im saying so please correct me if I am wrong ? smile.gif Im super stoked for this whole ordeal and for this thread.

AMD Phenom™ II X8 2420
AMD Phenom™ II X8 3020
AMD Phenom™ II X6 2520
AMD Phenom™ II X6 2820

Steppings A1 and B0.

Anyone have some info about ?

By the l3 cache / stepping can we supose that are Bulldozer based chips ?

That is correct, The patch made Windows see the 8 core cpu as a 4C/8T cpu. However, multi threaded performance has decreased since Windows no longer recognizes all of the cores as logical. Basically, it went from 8 clocked cores that each receive one thread to 4 clocked cores that can receive 2 threads at the same time. Well, this is useless because we don't have the patch that will enable simultaneous multi threading (SMT). And because we don't have the patch, we are going to see a decrease in performance for multi threaded apps since the threads won't be scheduled to the proper cores.

Single threaded performance has increased because a single core can now take full load rather than the load being shared across the 2 cores in the same module thus eliminating the need to compete for resources. So in that case for single threaded apps, it is the exact same as enabling one core per module. To put things in perspective. Cinebench score 8C/8T = 6.89. Cinebench score 4C/8T = 4.70. Cinebench score 4C/4T = 2.23. I hope that helps. I have a knack for understanding things better than explaining them.

Did you take a look at my cinebench results? They don't reflect what you said, for some reason. O.o
