Hey guys, I'm trying to decide wether to use my Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe's onboard 7.1 channel audio, or a Maya 7.1 soundcard that ive had laying around for some time now

I would buy a pci sound card for the sole reason of unloading the burden of sound decoding from the CPU. That being said, if your a gamer, and like the framerates you are currently getting, and the sound onboard is producing, I would see no reason to change it. Dont fix something that isnt broken... or so they say.

Thanks guys ! The thing is that I had paid $70 for it a few years back, solely for the optical connection, (My parents wanted optical, I didn't know what Newegg was, and the TigerDirect store was a few minutes away ) And it's been laying inside a little anti-static baggy ever since I un-installed it from my other rig.

I guess I was just feeling sorry for it and wanted to put it to good use Any idea how much I can get for it on eBay

Thanks !

You're one of the lucky ones who actually got your onboard audio running! Don't take it for granted. I helped a friend build his comp recently w/ the m2n32 mobo and his onboard audio didnt work so he ended up getting a soundcard. I will be doing my build next week. I hope my onboard audio works out the box, tho to be prepared, i already bought a soundcard. Did you have any problems getting your onboard audio to work at first?
