P8Z68 V PRO Very long POST!

Hi everyone!

So my setup:
ASUS P8Z68 V PRO
i7 2600k
Corsair vengance 2x4gb
Asus GTX 560 ti
Corsair Force 3 60 gb ssd
Corsair TX750

The problem i have it that POST takes about 2-3 minutes. First i just thought it just froze with the ASUS logo on and i was fixing it by multiple restarts until or later by moving the sata3 cable to another port (hub, not sure what is the correct term).
At first I thought it did it randomly but now i discovered that it does it almost every time I restart and very few times when i actually shut down.
I searched the forum but didn't find any similar situations.
I'm not doing any OC-ing or anything its with just standard settings.

Does anyone have any ideas or should I just return it and buy something else. Because, by the looks of things there seem to be a lot of issues with booting of this board.

What is you opinion?

Thank you

Try to reset CMOS then load BIOS Optimized Defaults. If that doesn't fix it try the latest BIOS.

Hi Ken, thanks for the reply!

I already had the latest BIOS version and I just reset the CMOS. It started great but still when i restart, POST lasts for 2-3 minutes (also maybe I forgot to mention but after it does this once it does it again until I change the sata ports or in this case reset CMOS).
I also noticed that once when I restarted it was a restart with a shut down (it restarted its self after 2-3 seconds) and then it worked fine.

Any other ideas?

Try turning off the JMB and Marvell controllers if not in use.
There are also some settings in regards to the splash screens and timings that you can disable / change. I do not remember all the names off the top of my head, but they will be in your manual.

If you are still not having any luck and no one else can help you I will repost tomorrow morning with the names of various items.

---EDIT---

Oh and that double restart you talk about is apparently a well known issue/feature/design of the Z68 boards, I have a topic on it, as do so many other forum users

http://www.overclock.net/t/1161233/asus-p8z68-v-pro-double-boot-problem

The above link is my topic. Have a read through it should help you. Personally once I disabled internal PLL overvoltage I have never seen a double boot again.

Hope this helps smile.gif

Any usb drives plugged in? Most of the time that is the issue. Sometimes certain mice and keyboards cause it as well.

OK. So after i tried everything USB, no USB, power on by PCI-E, disable JMC Marvel etc. Nothing worked i was ready to just send it back. Then i decided to reinstall windows with careful installation of drivers and attention to detail. And it worked it works like a charm now, with every feature enabled. Its not even doing it randomly. Anyway i will not get carried away for now. And I will give my final verdict after i try my hand at OC-ing my rig.
@5nak3 its not doing it anymore. but i got rig of the double asus logo at the start with was a little annoying, thanks.

Thank you guys for the replies.

L.E: As a conclusion, probably some bad driver installation.
L.E: And i also have to mention that I did the installation after Sean's guide http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-guide-optimization-for-ssds-hdds
Thanks Sean!

Glad to hear you got it sorted eventually.
Hopefully you don't run into any more trouble with the PC and the board and good luck with the OC'ing
