Is this all I would need for my first ever custom build? Any random wires or anything I will need? Does this look good for the money?

I'm buying tonight

Are you ever thinking about doing crossfire? If so you might want a bump on that PowerSupply

yes get a 750w psu as 2 overclocked 6950s could be thirsty, maybe even 850 to be totally futureproof.

Id also say change that mobo for either an asus or a gigabyte

and that case is HUGE. if you want a big case that will certainly keep all your options available, it just might seem a bit empty.

id go for someting smaller but it is a great case

I think in that price range I would ditch the 6950 in favor of the 560Ti 448 (for better performance with AA) but the difference between the two cards shouldn't be huge. Otherwise it looks good - I've been enjoying a similar core system for a few weeks now and it's great. Don't forget to setup using Sean's setup and optimization guide for SSDs... it's truly a seamless process.

Also if you can figure out a way to get by without the hard drive (USB backup HDD) you'll save a bunch of coin. Prices should come down eventually but it could be 6 months or more. I also think the cpu cooler is overkill but I also think most of what goes on in this forum is overkill so mine isn't the most valid opinion around - it's just that with modern games & GPUs, overclocking an i5-2500k is pretty much optional.

I upgrade very infrequently, I doubt I will be doing CFX unless I bought both cards at the same time. Is it worth it to ditch the SSD and stick with the 1 TB HDD and put the $200 to a better GFX card? (GTX 580?)

@ $299 I'd definitely go with a GTX 570 or a GTX 560 Ti 448.
Agree with the bump on the power supply. At least to 750 and 850 just to be safe.

I decided to save on the SSD myself because -10 seconds on Windows load time, or quicker BF3 level load time just isn't worth it.
Save the $$$ and buy a better graphics card.
I just bought a Matrix GTX 580P and it absolutely rokks... thumb.gif

hmm...off the bat $300 for a 6950 is too much. either get a normal card for $250, or pay up for a gtx 570. i'd also avoid buying a hard drive right now as they're over priced. i'd also recommend an 850W PSU for multi-GPU use in the future. that said, i wouldn't spend as much on case or CPU cooler, and i don't like ASRock mobos..but it's all subjective

I think that the mobo is fine, in fact, I have that exact mobo. Don't say its bad because its an asrock. and one more up for the larger psu. you might want to ditch the HDD and just run of the ssd until you need to upgrade and get the HDD. It will be cheaper. otherwise, good build
