anyone else unlucky with 955(c3)?

so no matter what my phenom ii x4 955(c3) would only overclock to 3.7ghz with 1.488 voltage. Anything higher would just get unstable. Even if you push 1.55!!! is there such thing as bad c3 ?

Are you overclocking using the HTT/FSB or using the Multiplier only?
I hit 3.7 on 1.4V just using the multi. I could hit higher messing with the nb and voltages. There is more to OCing then just the chip, quality of VRM and just little design imperfections can mess everything up.

No. Other members have told said above me. You NEED to overclock your NB to get a good stable clock. Also having a good mobo help's a TON! Not to mention that oc'ing the northbridge will net a sweet performance boost! With out bumping my NB I wouldn't be able to hit anything past 3.6GHz., With the NB bumped to 2600 @ 1.30v I have been able to hold a rock solid 4.0 and am working on 4.2GHz and 2800 on the NB. It will post and boot up just fine at 4.2 but have only played some game's have not done a prime run yet:(

I've got a 1090T which I couldn't get stable above 3.7GHz on one of my motherboards..... swapped it with my 1055T which was in another system and have now got the 1090T running stable at 4.02Ghz. thumb.gif

The 1055T is quite happy in it's new home, although I haven't tried pushing it past 3.5Ghz yet.

NB must be OC'd. Volts for the NB at 2600mhz is 1.295v for me, and for a 3000mhz i need 1.35v
make sure your HT doesnt go above 2100mhz . CPU-NB should be set at 1.3v. Once you start OC'ing the NB, make sure you have plenty of airflow, as the NB will get hot, and on some boards, the HS for the nb is a little small in surface area.

I was frustrated at not being able to break 4ghz till i saw your post thumb.gif NB is really important eh? I can get 4.2ghz running fine at a 3000mhz NB, but temps and volts are way too high for my hyper 212+ to handle angrysmiley.gif
