Renting Graphics Cards - Page 4

Obviously nobody even bothers to read the fine print, like said before you are in it for 12 months at a fixed rate of $50.99 a month for 12 months ($611.88 total). If you cancel your subscription they automatically charge you up to 2 months subscription fee for early lease termination. So if you rent it for a single month you will 99% guaranteed to be paying over $150, to just bench and/or test the cards capabilities. During the entire time of your lease the hardware remains property of the the business, and when its all said and done you have to give it back. So you just spent $611.88 over the coarse of a year to use a high end card and lose it, when you could of saved for 10 months and bought one outright and OWN IT. So really to the guy going "you can upgrade at any point, bla bla bla" get out with that doodoo because this sites purely another sham to stick it to people and make money. This site is worse then my local rent-a-center.

Yea, but when you paid off your TV what if Rent-A-Center came and said "oop times up, your not paying anymore we are taking it back". You need to understand this isn't rent-to-own. When your lease is up you have to send the item back...

The Service is a twelve month lease agreement between you and Cutting Edge Gamer. You do not own the card. The card and materials sent with the card, including but not limited to the driver CD, accessories and instruction manuals (the "Materials"), remain property of Cutting Edge Gamer and will need to be returned to us upon termination of the lease.

Edit: You can buy the card after the 12 month lease, it costs a single month additional subscription fee ($50.99). So your $611.88 is now a $662.87 card in order to own it. So in reality your paying about $14 a month extra in order to own the card with monthly payments. But I get the feeling your not even getting a brand new card to begin with, your getting one that's been leased out already to some nerd with greasy hands biggrin.gif

Ever hear of a credit card? They do the exact same thing except in the end you can keep your purchase. This has to be one of the worst ideas I've seen in a while. If you don't have or can't get a credit card, and money is just that tight, go flip burgers for a few hours a day and buy the card in a month.

Edit- @Warmonger You're right and wrong. They give you a buy out option at the end of the lease for one additional months fee. So you pay 13 months worth of lease to own it.

its a very neat idea executed very poorly

well maybe not so poorly, judging from how some of you guys actually like the idea.

The only way I can see that you will benefit from this is that you are a pro bencher, and you rent 12 different graphic cards from them from each of those months in the year and end up getting 12 benches for only say 10% of the cost of all those cards combined

other than that, there's no way its a good deal.

One of the below must be done for this to be a good deal

1) Half those prices
2) make it possible to just rent for 1 month
3) make the period unit 1-2 weeks instead of 1 month

This idea only works in the way renting other luxury things would, for example renting a luxury car for a ride JUST ONE DAY for, say, $800. Whats the point of renting a car one year for 100,00 that cost exactly that amount retail?

Geta 560ti now or save for it, get another to SLI. You will have a card set that beats the 580 and they are yours.

Lease looks terrible.
