Audio setup recommendations xonar dg w/ aiwa minisystem

My onboard audio broke so my buddy gave me his Xonar DG audio card.

I am wondering which one of these setups would be best? I'm mostly wondering because before this, I was using the HDMI audio out from my 6850 to my TV, and then using the SPDIF out from the TV into an old Teac AG-D8900 receiver with the Aiwa speakers hooked up to the receiver (which have integrated surround speakers, which I hooked up to the appropriate outputs on the receiver). Dolby/DTS or whatever was all working fine. I had to stop using the HDMI audio though because my new TV seems to apply some ****ty filter which makes reading fonts difficult if I use an HDMI cable, so I switched to a DVI/HDMI cable and all is well - except no audio.

Current setup - I just have a single headphone jack to RCA cable from the Aiwa Receiver (CX-NA31) to the green output on the card, and I setup the audio center app as 8 channels with 2 speakers out @ 24bit/192k.

Optional setup - Teac receiver with the SPDIF coming from the card. This would give me Dolby and all that and then I could disable the unused channels (center/sub,etc)

Anyway it sounds pretty good as it is right now, but if it's worth making sure those surround speakers work, going with the Teac is definitely an option. I have other speakers, but this setup is for a small room and so there is no reason to get crazy - plus even after all these years they sound pretty awesome.
