What you will find is the dual, tripple and quad channel ram kits are marketing. The manufacturers state the individual modules in the kits are all tested together to ensure they work well. I've personally bought multiple kits of dual channel 2x4Gb to run 12Gb (splitting a 2nd kit with a friend) and 24Gb. The ram has always ran fine together.

In your particular case, your modules are tested together to run at their rated speed and timings. But honestly there is not much difference between buying 4 each 4Gb individual modules, 2 each 2x4Gb modules, or 1 each 4x4Gb modules. I guess you can say you have peace of mind knowing the modules have been tested by the manufacturer and they all run fine together.

Just buy the dual ram kits. As long as the specs of the ram are similar, it will be fine.
