Hi, I want to try this out like this guy did over at the cm forum Link I want to see does it really help with the temp. Where do they sale barbs at? any hardware store? like homedepot, lowes. I'm planning on getting a heatercore at autozone today and would like to try this out. But dont know where to get barbs. Any help would be helpful thank you!

It depends on what ID you are using. It seems the main mod there is the cage removal and the front cut out...those are the two that helped his temps the most.

I think its 1/4 ID its an aquagate from cooler master just like the one that guy have on that image. I'm planning to put it outside the case since I dont think it will fit in my case. I want to try it with the bonneville heater core the one in your guide. I figure I can try it out and if it doesnt work out well I can always use the heater core when I build my own wc system. And was planning on going the cheap route with your guide. Thanks for the faqs/guide btw! so I'm still wondering do they sell them at a hardware store I only have lowes and homedepot around my area and I think acehardware too but not sure have to look that up.

Take a look and see. Ask for a 5/8...I think it's called NIP (without threads) to a 1/4 barb. If you decide you want to add barbs to the HC for a 1/2" system get 5/8NIP (or whatever it is) to 1/2 barb. I know for sure Lowes has those.

I like doing the guides and FAQs so no problem there. I'm glad to see that they have helped. If you need help with anything else let us know

Just ask someone and tell them what you are using it for. They usually get really interested in what you're doing and ask a bunch of questions and run all over the store with you so you get everything you need in 10 mins rather than looking...I'm going to write an FAQ.

"How to: Make it through a hardware store and not be labeled a dork"

Hey here is the update on my trip to the hardware store and the heatercore. lol I think you should write that faq/guide snerp. All I can say is that I wish I read the faqs before I left lol I did feel like a dork when I ask the helper where are the "Tylon tape" which suppose to be Teflon tape I dont even know if tylon is a word lol. We couldnt find any mips that are 5/8 to 1/4 all we saw was 5/8 to 3/8 and 1/2. This was at Home depot, so I just got a 1/4 bard and teflon tape and just wrap it around the heatercore and it work out great with no leaks etc. I really didnt expect for the heatercore to be that huge, I manange to cutt off the pipe with a dremel. I was a bit surpise that it was able to pump water into the bonneville heatercore and to the cpu block. I didnt have 2 120mm fans for the heatercore so I strip 2 old p3 power surply that I had lying around and use 2 80mm fans that was inside and zip ties them to the heatercore. 1 was a delta fan and the other was a yate loon fan. My temp are now at 27-28 idle and 34-35 full load.

So I just wrote it. Here it is to hold you past till it is approved:

I used to hate going to the hardware store for my computer projects. There is always that one thing you can't find, so you have to ask someone. So you ask something like "where can I find your worm drive clamps?"....what do they respond with? The dreaded: "what are you using it for?” You then tell them PC Watercooling, their eyes roll in their head and they become very irritable and say stuff like "Are you kidding?", "What's the point?" and "So why do you need that?”

I have a few easy steps to help you avoid being labeled a dork.

1: Get in old beat up clothes and roll in the dirt before you go.
2: Stick your chest out and walk really fast like you know where you are going.
3: Ask what the current price is on 8ft #2 2x4s before you ask where to find your nerd part
4: Know what you need or memorize these retorts and repeat them when you are corrected: "I don't care what it is I just need it to work" or "I thought so, guess I'll have to tell my brother that he was wrong...I should have put some money on that one!" or if you make a mistake in plumbing "Oh! Well I'm an electric guy, not a plumber! HAHAHA!"
