Xpertvision x850xt agp have NO temp chip?

Thread Starter
I recently picked up an Xpertvision x850xt agp and to my surprise it had no temp display with ATI tool or any other program, being a high end agp card one would expect it to at least monitor temps, so I did some searching on line for the temp chips location and as far as i can see there is a space with empty solder points where it should be . Could anyone please tell me if there is a temp monitoring solution that i can adopt instead. Any advice would be of great help.

Try reinstalling the drivers, and WELCOME to OC.net.
There is a Temp sensor imbedded in the core, so i guess it just needs a proper driver to detect it

Thanks for the welcome, i have loaded drivers directly from the disc and then upgraded to cat 6.8 with the control center several times. I did'nt know the sensor was in the core, ATI tool says temperature chip not detected, does this mean anything?

It could very well be that installing drivers ontop of eachother can cause instability/problems so please follow those steps:

1.Download and install ''Driver Cleaner'' Here:
http://www.drivercleaner.net/professional.html
2.Uninstall your Current Display drivers such as your ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia'' drivers.
3.Now run ''Driver cleaner'' and depending on the Drivers you have you will have to select either ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia'' from the drop down menu. Only select the main title of the driver in the drop down such as just ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia''
4.Once you have selected Your driver click on the ''Start'' button and this will now start the driver cleaning process. ( Do this twice to be sure )
5.Now reboot your system and Download the latest Nvidia or ATI and go ahead and install them.

Doing this avoids driver corruption and conflicts so you can now enjoy smooth gameplay.

Thanks to user ENTERPRISE1701

I don't think you need a "cracked" BIOS to enabled temp. monitoring.
I guess it's a problem with drivers or something like that.
