Why not just increase the voltage then?

My first HD5870.

It would run at 73ºC with Sapphire's custom heatsink, no overclock no nothing. It would also not go past 860MHz core without artifacting.

It was SO BAD, I returned it to the shop (I used to work there) and exchanged it for another one.

The second one I got, same model, ran at 57ºC (O__O), and would erach 900MHz core speed. But that one burnt the power phases and got RMA'd. Gah.

And now I'm on my third card of this kind. This one ran at 53ºC (supposedly Sapphire told their monkeys how to apply TIM), and overclocks to 965MHz. I thought it was good enough, so I watercooled it. And here we are, what started like complete bulls**t, has ended up like probably one of the best products I've ever bought, right after my XFX 8800GT 625M.

Even if my version doesn't have voltage control smile.gif

The joystick that screwed in the middle of the d-pad would break off continually and I would beg for a new one for a month... I went through 3 of these and would have to tape, glue, piece them together continually. What a piece of junk !
Anyone else own one ?

Lol yes and i still have it, broken joystick peg and all smile.gif.

Antec 900 case. It was the first case I did a custom build in.

My hands were practically bloody after trying to work in that piece of crap, and I hated the LED fans by the first night I had it. Needless to say it went in the dumpster, I bought a Silverstone FT-01, and haven't looked to another brand since.
