Put the SSD in my Desktop or Laptop?

Thread Starter
Okay so here's the situation. I am getting an Intel 320 80GB SSD and I'm not sure whether I want to put it in my 2010 13" Macbook Pro or if I want to put it in my Desktop (sig rig). My desktop dual boots between Gentoo Linux and Windows 7. However, I think I will only use the drive for Windows since dual booting on an SSD seems complicated.

What each is used for...
Desktop: Gaming, programming, photo editing
MacBook: Programming, videos, random activities

Any thoughts?

Laptop would be my choice as it gives several fold advantages: 1. lower power consumption 2. it will be significantly faster than any other conventional hdd that you could possibly put in your laptop, also personally with my laptop, i tend to want to use it immediately.

Laptop solely b/c it will speed it up significantly and use less power.

If you were to use it for your desktop tho it is simple to dual boot lol, no different from a regular HDD.

In my opinion pick the one that you use most. The laptop makes the most sense for the lower power use and obvious speed increases (as it is laptops are usually noticeably slower) but don't discount the desktop either. Where would it provide the most benefit is what you need to figure out.

Thanks for the replies. From what I'm gathering, it would make most sense to put it in my laptop. I'm satisfied with how my desktop is now in terms of speed; my laptop can get a little laggy. Thanks for the input.
